*Update Everyone* I PASSED!!!!! Thanks Steph Anya! Your videos on the theories were definitely a big help. I’m soooo excited. Thanks for the well wishes.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the idea of asking a family or couple what they do NOT want to change in the relationship! It was a complete mind shift for me in learning about MFT! Thank you again!
girl I hope you get blessings on blessings. youre channel has been great for mini-trainings to review modalities and simplifying them. you do a great job of simplifying it and make it engaging!
Taking my exam in a few hours and I'm reviewing with all of your videos..wish me luck!

So glad to have you here 🤗
Steph, thank you for your helpful video, you make a number of good points. However you need to be aware of a few things: 1) the concept of visitor, complainant, customer was repudiated by Steve; he said he wished he had never introduced the concept. At the end of his life he saw everyone who showed up for therapy as a customer. 2) "brief" in SFBT has nothing to do with time or number of sessions. It means, " not one session more than is clinically necessary." 3) "solution talk" (or solution building) is not about problem solving. It's descriptive of life without the problem, not strategies for working through the problem. 4) In SFBT scales, 10 is always the desired outcome, not the problem. 10 would equal "care free and relaxed", 1 would equal worried or distressed. Thanks again for bringing this discussion to KZread.
I'm sooo happy to have found your channel. The course I'm in now for my master's is couples and families therapy. Your explanations really help cement the methods of intervention, especially when you share how you would ask a question. Thank you thank you thank you
You have a very refreshing personality and are enjoyable to listen to.

Can you do a video on EFT? I stumbled across your channel as an MFT student ONLINE! I have been struggling to basically teach myself and you are so easy to understand in your explaining of the theoretical process in each style!

i started my counselling masters! I’m doing an intro to this next week, great starter 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
OMG! Thank you so much for this one! I went through every one of your videos looking for this one!!!!!!
I graduated from the Erickson solution-focused coaching institute, omg this is so cool to hear this is derived from the SF Therapy!! It is effective, but I have to say feels rigid/limiting (perhaps due to the ethical boundaries of the professional coaching standards).
I love your videos!! They are helping me so much while in graduate school. Thank you, Steph!
Found your video while doing research for my MSW, and realized that it's exactly two years since you posted. This was great info, thank you so much!
Thank you for all your videos they are soooooooooooooo helpful, can you do a video on Emotionally Focus Therapy (EFT), or if you do have one post, is there another term that is used? So many, and can be very overwhelming.
You explain things so well!
Very helpful, as always!! So thankful for you!!☀️💓
Thank you for this video. I would love to hear more about this type of therapy and also about EFT. Again, I really enjoy your content and your energy.
In watching your videos I've heard you mention that you're preferred theoretical approach is collaborative. I would love to see a video on that please.

hello I just started an mft program and my first instructor assigned one of your videos and since then you have been a go to for me to understand each concept and theory. I really appreciate the clear presentation. keep the theory reviews coming
Thank you so much for these videos!! I’ll be starting my master’s in mft soon and this is great at helping me to prepare. It is also a huge benefit that you are located in Atl because I am not far from you so your guidance has been very helpful in knowing GA’s licensing steps.
Thank you so much. Please keep these videos coming.
You are my trainer ooooh I love how you explain.
Thanks, Steph. Really great :)
Thank you Steph❤ love watching your videos.. very informative and helpful.. God bless
So glad I happened upon your channel. Definitely am a subscriber now. As an MFT student I'm trying to fill in gaps where I'm still not clear in yet. Thank you
I'm a firm believer that you need to understand the problem in order to come-up with a sustainable & effective solution. 80% problem & 20% solution
Thank you for such a thorough, easy to follow explanation of this therapy model.
This is so useful. Thank you :)
This is awesome!!! Thank you.

Thank you!

Thank you.

thank youuuu you're incredible and so appreciated
I don't know if you've already done this one, but I'd love to see a collaborative therapy model video! I struggle so hard nailing down the concepts of that one haha!
Yes, can you make a video about Milton Erickson

Please create more videos!!!! Whitaker, Bateson with general systems and cybernetics….one focusing on statistics because who really understands this lol Pleaseeeee from a fellow MFT seeking to pass my exam.
Would you say this can be used for a client that doesn’t really want to put much focus on their past or childhood traumas ?
@StephAnya
2 жыл бұрын
Definitely, but when my clients really don't want to talk about their past it's usually because that's an area that's currently impacting them today. So maybe start with this and see how it goes.
How would you use narrative therapy and solution focused therapy with a substance affected family? I am going to school to be an addiction therapist for families and individuals. What are some self help groups such as Al Anon and Nar anon that utilize these models?
Not sure if you are familiar with him or not but I wonder what your take would be on Kevin Samuels from a solution based standpoint. I know solutions are different for every situation and person but for a woman who has the SINGLENESS issues he discusses as an LMFT do you think what he promotes his a good solution for women in general ?

Possibly! They even have the most requirements to graduate in most cases.
How do they think that it's therapy if you are not in contact with the person for correcting or education purposes. You just going through the motions in that case.
