Hello, thanks for lesson. Could you answer please, why i can`t say - "I had a headache since yesterday"? Or why I can`t say - "I was cooking today since 5 o`clock" or "It was really cold here lately" and "I never saw anything like that before". - these senteces are clear for understanding, if it so, why should i use perfect tense, if it`s more easy to use past simple with words like since, yet, and other words like.

Of course you can continue to say it like this. It isn't correct but if you goal is to be understood then it works. If you goal is to sound natural and fluid you might want to consider using the correct version. I hope this was helpful.

Hi Tarana. I am an English teacher. I would say roughly this is correct for some instances of use of Present Perfect. For instances when we are interested in the result. I don't know why teacher Tanya thinks this is wrong. And this is exactly what she was trying to explain actually. I think you've summarized it in this way and it is correct. Well done Tarana! I am not a native speaker and it's easier for me to see where students have problems with grammar.
