The Corridor of Uncertainty - a place where goalkeepers dare not go, a place where defenders tread lightly, but a place attackers throw themselves into.
But what actually is it?

Extremely fortunate timing. As they said on the podcast either he put the ball in the net himself or if he’s a half second later it reaches mbappe and he (most likely) puts it in the back of the net.

Playing into the CoU also makes defenders drop deeper next time to defend that area, leaving more chance for the cutback to strikers or midfielders coming in from the edge of the box. It’s a great weapon, and one I used very successfully in youth football as a winger in the season our centre forward scored 128 goals. I’d like to see stats for how many goals Chelsea conceded in that area during Terry's career. His ability to position himself in such a way that there was no corridor to hit was amazing.

I had no idea it even had a name but whenever I played fifa or pes I always noticed putting the ball in that area usually causes problems for the defense and that usually leads to a scoring chance and when I was on defense when my opponent plays the ball into that area I always get nervous and sometimes end up making the wrong defensive decision like bringing my goalkeeper out too late which could lead to my opponent getting a clear shot on goal or too early which could lead to me conceding a goal through an easy lob or not sending my defender after the ball expecting the goalkeeper to pick up the loose ball only for the striker to get in between my defender and my goalkeeper and score.

The Corridor of Uncertainty I would describe it as a no-man zone the point of no return do you stick or twist do I enter or do I not. Like the Scotland goalkeeper David Marshall against The Czech Republic in Euro 2020 when Schick bent it over the stranded goalkeeper. You could even say David Marshall run the entire Corridor of Uncertainty on that occasion.
