    Thanks brother ! I’m brand new in the garden and 4x is hitting eyeballs as far as the eye can see… which is why I’m leaving the comment. It’s been 1 week and I am looking at new scope videos, not new gun videos. (Comit evo devil) definitely get a zoom Scope higher than 4x. 4 is perfect for your first week or learning scopes and rails and clips etc and getting your shots directly on point. Then upgrade scope or buy zoom straght away you’ll be feeling really good. Havnt missed one target with this method and learnt all parts of the gun and how to get them humming !

    i am a silhouette air rifle competitor many many year ago. maximum distance of 40m. Started using 4x magnification scope, then switch to 3x9 mag. lastly, my score improved when i started using 6x24 mag. at 40 m standing using 24 magnification, which give me several awards. Try it guys, also useful on bench rest shooting.

    Man I'm glad I found your channel. You realy have a nice library of information here. I just started my air rifle venture at 57 lol. Looking for a fun hobby in the back yard. I bought a Gamo Mach 1 in 22cal as something to get started with and then quickly realized I want much more accuracy then what I'm getting and a better rifle. I found your channel trying to seek out better rifles and man what a channel you have. So far I like the Air Arms Pro Sport in 22 cal walnut that has a bottom lever. I think if I bought another lever style rifle I would buy that one. The PCP style is more than likely going to be my next buy. I want accuracy and a wood stock. More than likely will be one of the Air Arms PCP models. Looking forward to going through you video's.

    poke to some experts and they told me that if I am exclusively focusing on marksmanship/target, shooting with my pellet rifle to a my maximum distance of 300 yards and maybe 400 yards if possible that I should exchange my scope for the first focal plane Discovery model which is Discovery optics LHD 3-12X42SFIR FFP. I've been researching and studying scopes for air rifles for a while. As I live in Brazil and everything imported here costs 100% on top of the product price + freight, I'm being extremely diligent in my research. I would like to ask you if my conclusions are right: 1- 3-9 or 4-12 x 33-40 seem to be more than enough for springers and have the added benefit of being closer to the barrel (medium mounts) 2- Second Focal Plane seems to be what most use as they tend to set in a fixed power (say 10x) and use the blur to judge distance. 3- Shorter scopes seem preferable as they don't get in the way of you loading pellets. 4- Reticles are a world onto themselves and it is difficult to find the reticle you like with those other configurations, but Half Mildot, MH10 seem ideal to me. 5- Illumination, and many other features seem useless to a springer shooter. 6- Using these characteristics, a good scope should run you under 300 pounds, if you need a FFP, under 400 pounds.

  • @alphamilitaria2756

    @alphamilitaria2756

    16 күн бұрын

    1. Yes, 3-9 or 4-12x is ideal, not that I've seen many 4-12 scopes. Perhaps you meant 4-16x in which case I think it's ideal. A 32 or 40mm objective lens will certainly enable you to get close to the barrel. The Sporstmatch website is a great resource for working out what height mounts you need for different size scopes. Getting low to the barrel is always a good idea. Just make sure your mounts are not too low to prevent proper eye alignment through the scope. I'd say mediums are just about right. 2. You can get second focal plane scopes that have adjustable magnification - most of them do in fact. The important feature to have is parallax adjustment either via a dial on the side or a collar on the objective lens. That will allow you to focus on your target and, in the case of a side dial, do rudimentary range finding. 3. Certainly if your spring rifle is an underlever then you will want a scope that is short enough to avoid access to the loading port. On a break barrel you just need to ensure the end of your scope is not in the way of the barrel when you break it to cock. 4. Reticles are largely a personal choice kind of thing. Pick one you like the look of and that you can see easily. Unless you are going to shooting very long distances you will not need lots of aimpoints. 5. It depends on what kind of shooting you do. If you are going to be hunting in low light conditions, an illuminated reticle is helpful even on a spring powered rifle. In fact, most scopes have an illuminated reticle now. To be honest, I rarely use the feature on mine, but good to know its there. 6. Yes, £300 / £400 is a good budget for a decent F2 or FFP scope. Make sure you allow enough to get yourself some decent mounts though. Lots of people by a great rifle and scope and then cheap mounts and wonder why they can't hit anything! I hope that helps. Please let us know if there's anything else we can help with. Rich.

    LPVO ALL THE WAY! 1-6x I don't use the .22 for anything longer range so out to 30 yards its great. Where it really shines is at 1x for rats its awesome. FYI I always adjust the objective lens to be parallax free at 30yards at 6x At the lower end mag it is less relevant as long as you nail the fundamentals.

    Hi. Thanks for watching. The rifle in the background is a Tyrolean stocked HW77 and 30 + years old. I'm afraid the scope is about the same vintage and is made by Weihrauch as well. The Diana 350 and HW97 are excellent but quite heavy rifles, so I'd suggest you want a scope that isn't too heavy. And for the HW97 you 'll want something compact so as to avoid blocking off the loading port. I really like the MTC Cobra F1. It's a FFP 4-16x50. The SCB2 reticle is nice and clear and the first mildot mark is thicker than the rest of the reticle so frames your shot. It has great optics and a smoother side parallax as well. And well within your $500 budget. I hope that helps.

    Hi Andres. If you're shooting rats in the dark, you may want to consider one of the digital day/night scopes. I can recommend the Pard DS35 70LRF, the Hikmicro Cheetah LRF and the Hkimicro Alpenx A50T (a new version with a range finder and ballistic calculator is coming out soon). We reviewed the Pard on here. You can use digital NV scopes during the day, but If you're looking for a traditional glass scope I'd recommend something that has a low magnification - 2x or 3x - as I am assuming your ratting will be over fairly short distance. If you can, choose a model that has adjustable parallax down to 10/15 yards ideally via a side wheel. In terms of brands, I'd suggest sticking to one of the well known brands which over here are Hawke, MTC or Nikko Stirling. To shoot in the dark you'll need some kind of infrared add on which attaches to a glass scope and allows you to shoot in the dark. The Pard NV007 is an excellent choice here. It sounds like a lot of kit, but very straight forward really. You can always contact us on hello@alphamilitaria.com if you'd like to chat further about options.

    Hi Jerred. Its frustrating isn't it? Sometimes swapping your mounts around (put the one at the back to the front etc.) will resolve the issue. If not you may have to pack your mount. Put a piece of folded tin foil paper or cut a piece of coke can and place it between the bottom ring of your front mount and the scope. Its a little trial and error but should do the trick. Good luck.

    Hi Lee. I'm not sure what 6x10 refers to, but when a scope is described as 4-16x40, or 6-24x50, the first two numbers describe the magnification range and the last number describes the size of the objective lens. So 4-16 mean 4x to 16x magnification and 40 means 40mm objective lens. I hope that helps.

    The answer to the question is... it depends. For example if you are target shooting from a bench a scope with high magnification (eg 12x or more) is useful and some extra weight is not an issue. If you are hunting and carrying your rifle around you probably want a scope which isn't too big and heavy yet has a practical amount of magnification (eg 6x). Leupold 3-9x 33mm EFR (AO) preferably with custom shop mil-dot reticule is close to a perfect hunting scope for 22cal. Not the 'VX Freedom' but the previous version. Hawke Airmax 2-7x 32mm AO or 3-9x 40mm AO with AMX reticule are good for the money.
