I used both Yarn Art Dolce (once) and Himalaya Dolphin Baby (many times) as they are the easiest to get locally here. In terms of specs they are identical. No difference in look, feel, yardage or weight. They are classified as super bulky but they have quite a bit of yardage and are thinner than a blanket yarn (which I think looks better). They also don't have a velvety feel and look closest to the Hobbi yarn. They are soft, and smooth. Dolphin baby sheds less then yarn art, but they both do and sometimes are hard to make into magic rings. Btw, they recommend 4.5 mm hook and that's what I'll use because I think the recommendation is in mind for amigurumi
Bernat baby blanket is the same as the regular bernat blanket. The only difference is that they test the baby one for harmful substances since it's being used for babies. For amigurumi, the only reason to get one over the other is color selection

@@alondragaddis7255 I was gonna say the same thing. I feel like there is a huge difference in the feel. I also feel like I can see my stitches a little better.
Thank you so much for this video! I’ve been having a hard time finding good brands for chunky wool but this video was very helpful. :)
I've been searching for plush yarns and I didn't know which one to buy, thank you so much!
A video like this is exactly what I've been looking for! As someone in the UK without a local yarn shop, it's often really hard to judge what you're getting in for when you buy something online. Would be great if you could also review James C Brett Huggable, Cygnet Chenille Chunky and Cygnet Scrumpalicious :)

Me too! I watch so many KZread videos where they use Bernat or Premier yarns and we can't get them so readily here without paying a fortune in shipping... I've been using the Yarnart Dolce and I love that one. It reminds me of marshmallow flumps. Paintbox chenille is nice too but it does fluff off at the ends a lot. I have to use a lighter to seal the ends. I've been making the Mabel chickens and mine are so much smaller that the American versions due to the difference in yarns but this video has been great in understanding the differences. Thank you so much..xx

Thank you so much for this video. This is what I have been looking for in this type of yarn.
Your videos are the best. Straight to the point, and the way you divide it makes it so easy to get to the info I need. I refer back to this video frequently and use it as a reference, so thank you so much for labelling each yarn brand so clearly, labelling the hook size, and making an example of each! It's so hard to find this information anywhere else. :)
I am just getting ready to try the chenille yarn for an amigurumi project. Thanks so much for the chart. This is so helpful.
omg i’ve been needing this video thank you sooooo much!!!!
The bernat blanket yarn reminds me of mariners get cosy blanket yarn if you haven’t tried it it’s one of my favourites🥰
Yesss🙌🙌 Been waiting for this kind of video
Thank u so much for this video and ur tutorials your advice is so helpful! Thank u
You helped me SO MUCH. Thank you! 🤍
I use alize velluto plush yarn as well as hobbii baby snuggle and honey bunny because it’s pretty much the only yarn i can get here! alize velluto is just as soft as the hobbii ones but it’s thicker! the recommended hook size is 8-10mm but i use a 6mm hook and it works nicely. the piece comes up a little bigger than with the hobbii yarns but not too big and i personally feel like it’s easier to work with
For the most part I crochet with Bernat Velvet yarn, but I recently crocheted a frog using your pattern and the loops and threads snuggle yarn, it turned out over double the size it would be if I had used Bernat velvet. I want to try the hobbii yarn in the future but I haven’t gotten a chance yet.
Thank you so much for your tutorials. 🙂
I use all the yarns but baby snuggle and flutterby. I never heard of those yarns and I don’t think they are available in Cali unless I ship them to me. I 100% prefer to use sweet snuggles yarn and parfit chunky a lot more than any other yarn so all my projects can be soft
And the Hobii honey bunny yarn! Its soooooo soft. Pretty similar to the baby snuggle though.
I just splurged and order Tulip’s grandhooks so I could have an 8mm since I felt like 6.5 was too small, I really appreciate this video validating that decision LOL

It’s always worth having an 8mm 🤗
Thank you so much for this video, I have used the bernat blanket yarn and I found I had trouble with one colour, I have also used King Cole yummy. Please could you put the yummy one on your list, I would be interested on what you think. I am awaiting my arrival of Hobbii baby snuggles so was pleased to see it was one you had tested, cannot wait for it to arrive.
Living in the UK I tend to use King Cole Yummy, cygnet Jellybaby and James c Brett, as each one does different colours but they seem to work well together.
Thank you so much for this review! Hobbi baby snuggle is the only one that I can easily get because I live in the Netherlands. And I have not heard someone so positive about it for amigurumi comparing to the parfait chunky which I would pay $56 shipping for😮 I am gonna try the baby snuggle for sure!

@juliavanoosten1093 Fellow Dutch chrocheter here! I have thesame problem, but I recently found good quality thick chenille yarn online. It's called Chenille 6 by Lammy Yarns. It's made in Holland. I can't find the exact colour's I'm looking for, but at least it's good quality (it sheds less than the thinner velvet yarn from Durable). I bought it at Wolcafe in Schoonhoven, they also run a online shop so you could order it.
Loved this video!! So glad I found it! Have you ever used the Hobbii - Honey Bunny?
Thank you for this video!
I’ve used Big Twist Velour for a scarf before but I’m curious to see how it would work for making plushies! And I’ve also used Yarn Bee Adore-A-Ball flannel for a plushie and it worked great!

I tried making a teddy with Big Twist Velour and I had a really hard time closing a magic loop without breaking it, it breaks really easily. It's weird because I use Bernat Blanket and Velvet and don't have issues.
Thank you for this! Can you try out Hobbii honey bunny and can you also do a test on shedding of the yarn? I saw another channel show a brand of yarn that doesn’t shed at all (I forget the name of but found it’s only available in a Denmark shop that doesn’t shop to the US).
Loved your video thank you very much, if you make another one like this can you include the MyBoshi SAMT yarn ? That's the one i'm using and i don't know if i should change for another one maybe softer or cheaper, thanks !
I absolutely HATE SweetSnuggles yarn. I was working for HOURS making a axolotl. When I was almost done making the axolotl, THE YARN KEPT RIPPING AND BRAKING. I don’t even think it’s able to even be CLASSIFIED as yarn. The fluff keeps sliding off and all I have left is this very very thin piece of string once the fluff falls off. I am a scrawny 10 year old and I have no idea why it’s so weak. Unlike SweetSnuggles, I LOVE Bernat! It’s strong, durable, and the fluff doesn’t fall off! I made a very cute turtle with my only two Bernat yarns. I’ve learned from my experience and know which yarn to pick now! :D

i have a yarn like that, and it works well once you get into the rounds, just be a little gentle. there are MR tutorials specifically for fragile yarn, so i'd suggest checking those out. as for sewing, i would suggest just pulling all of the fluff off and just use the thin string to sew the pieces on. just be gentle and maybe sew it on twice. it works, it's just inconvenient
I personally always use James C Brett Flutterby Chunky yarn just because it’s the cheapest I can get hold of. The only issue is how the actual yarn can come off the end of the piece (if that makes any sense) but is my top favourite. I’m considering experimenting with another though

Could you please test the 'PREMIER JUST(tm) CHENILLE' brand? I think it's the same as the Hobbii Baby Snuggle yarn you've shown here, but I'm not fully sure. It'd be wonderful if you could test it. ^^
Oooooo!! Yay great video :)
Hi Robin well I mostly use "I Love This" i am positive it is not plush but maybe you can ive or opinion I also use "Yarn Bee" just wondering If that is possible thanks!😍🥰☺
thank you for this video!! you should try baby bee yarn. or yarn bee!
Which yarn over/yarn under technique do you use for these results? I’m just starting in making amigurumi but mine look “blah”. Think I am using the wrong technique…. Thanks 😊
You should try Estako Velvet! It is similar to Premier Parfait Chunky.
personally the flutterby chunky is my favourite
I wonder where honey bunny yarn from hobbii would place in this list, great vid, ty ❤
I have been using myboshi samt. It has been the only plush yarn i have found in switzerland yet🙈 i like to work with it but i do not now any other yarns so I can not make a reference to any others🤭
I recently tried out Chenillove by Rico Design, it's probably the best chenille yarn I've tried in terms of being durable and easy to work with! However the store near me only has a few colours and I can hardly find anything about it online.
Hi, which is the least velvetty/microbfibery feeling please? Especially out of the Hobby Baby Snuggle and the Flutterby, as I dislike that the feel of velvet. Thanks!
The only plush yarns we can buy in store her in the Isle of Man 🇮🇲 is flutterby I love so much but really want to try parfait chuncky or Bernat blanket!
The best bulky yarn is the one on sale 😅
thanks for the video! where can I get yarn (other than bernat) in Canada?
If you love hobbii baby snuggle, you should try hobbii honey bunny, honey bunny candy and honey bunny big❤
I just discovered you and I really appreciate all of your tips for amigurumi and for using plush yarns! Do you ever use invisible increase? I'm going to start using your magic ring because I always have to sew in that inside end to keep it from opening up. It looks like with your method you don't have to do that.
One major difference between bernat blanket and baby blanket (from someone who consistently uses them) , is that baby blanket yarn is tested for any possible harmful substances within the yarn.

I have such a hard time seeing stitches on the first few rounds of the bernat yarn. Is that how it is with the other yarns here?
Is the hobbii durrible? I know the one before it snaps super easy.
Soft and bright alize velluto
Can you try himallya dolphin baby yarn?
Can you do large chunky corgi tutorial pleeaaassee. I really want it to make. But i can't find anything that is cute as your makings. I'm so torn in the turtle, but i really need the corgi to make. It's going to be a gift for my brother. He's been asking for a dog and mom wouldn't allow it because our house is tiny and can't fit any pet inside. It would be wonderful if you make a tutorial of corgi. Hope you read this. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

I used some Bernat Blanket Yarn, and it likes to snap when I try to draw the Magic Ring closed, so I use the ch2 and sc x in 2nd ch hack so that it won't break. Have you ever had that problem?

That’s never happened to me and I used a regular magic circle maybe your tension is too tight ?? Or you’re tryna pull it too tight
How were you able to do a magic circle with your sweet snuggles yarn? I just got some for Christmas and have been struggling to get it in a magic circle without pulling fluff off or breaking it.
@RoseandLilyAmigurumi

It's very thick, so it helps to make the initial stitches very loose before pulling the ring tight. I still break them fairly often though :(

@@madalinak7244 I gave the turtle to my nephew last Christmas. He just turned 2 a few days ago. So far the only thing that came loose was one of the buttons I used as eyes instead of the safety eyes. And I think one of the ends started to come loose. The yarn itself was fine last time I saw it. I haven't used bernat much so I can't vouch for it. I really only used it for a scarf and I haven't finished it yet.
Have you tried aldi so crafty baby yarn x
Can you rank them in durability?

She has a video on it! I recommend sizing up your hook.
I don't know if it's just me feel like bernat velvet gets pulled off quite easy. I can't even sew it properly while finishing my amigurumi. after some minutes, there is just the thread left, and the small little fur on it flew everywhere
@amberlingefelt2302
2 жыл бұрын
A huge tip that has helped the fuzz to stay on the yarn for me is using a lighter to lightly burn the ends! Since chenille is mostly polyester/synthetic fiber it melts, which binds the melted fuzz to the thread and preventing the ends from shedding:)
What causes the sizes to differ, is it the type of yarn, the hook size, or the number of stitches? or could i change the size by using a bigger hook size with the same yarn or not?
@MadeByChinkee
10 ай бұрын
All of the above can make sizes to differ. But in this video, she used the same number of stitches. So it's basically the type (weight) of yarn (i.e., jumbo, super bulky, bulky, and etc) and hook sizes that made the difference.
i got mine off of Amazon and it sucks :( it breaks and the fuzz comes off if i pull too hard
IS this of amazon??
