Hell pawn shop blues won a local award in New York and scored her a record deal at the time. Queen of the gas station tells an entire story and is incredibly detailed in terms of world building. Smarty and Yayo are just straight up sex but also illustrates a deep attraction to toxic daddy figures. Put me in a movie is essentially about sex abuse in a vulnerable and different kind of way. C'mon now.

I completely agree, it's a super underrated album even considering that it's not currently released, but all its songs are enjoyable and super good, it's my favorite album of Lana lol

Honeymoon and NFR are her 10/10 albums for me. Honeymoon is soooo underrated

it's not bad, but like almost every single song on there was just recycled from another project, she only wrote a couple songs specifically to be on blue banisters. she also knows its not that good which is why she saved ocean blvd and fingertips for a better album

It’s got some good songs but as a whole its all over the place, nearly half the album were just rejected songs from previous era’s and the entire thing does not hold up as a full project

I always go back and forth with Ocean & NFR being number 1 for me.. NFR is just so easy to listen to at anytime. Where as ocean is a bit heavy and deep, but so well written, produced.. and beautifully executed

I’ve only heard Ultraviolence by Lana. I’m gonna have some fun binging this Tito’s and her entire discography.

ocean blvd, blue banisters, honeymoon and nfr are my definitve favorites from lana

i can’t decide what my favorite is. nfr is perfect, but i think ocean boulevard has higher highs but lower lows. i also just love chemtrails an insane amount so idk.

My God everything she puts out is incredible. 🎉

But we all know that Honeymoon is the best, right? Literally NOONE would argue against that.

@@NicholasStulga TNBAR and Cinnamon Girl. Bartender too, depending on my mood. None of them are outright bad, but they’re all just weaker filler tracks. TNBAR just shouldn’t have been on the album at all, it spoils the flow and sounds like it should have been on LFL (which it was written for). I have it hidden in the tracklist for that reason lol.

@@f4gsforpele no way you just called The Next Best American Record a weak filler track. That’s one of my favorite tracks on the record. I agree with you on Cinnamon Girl, but the fan base seems to really like it overall. And Bartender is a bit slow to start, but it starts to flourish mid-track. I don’t think there’s any skips on NFR!

@@bluewescott4631 girl how 💀💀💀 the pacing is terrible, the intro is very tedious and unnecessary and the verses are melodically just a knockoff of Where The Wild Roses Grow by Nick Cave, the chorus is literal earrape as is the awful production, not to mention some of the worst lyrics she’s written since the BTD/UV days: “He said I was bad, let me show you how the bad girls do” 💀💀💀 it’s literally unlistenable, worst song on Blue Bastards and one of her worst songs ever.

@@f4gsforpele jesus, the production is messy and experimental but it works for a lot of people. there's nothing wrong with that lyric, it may not be the most profound thing on the planet but it doesn't need to be and it's not horrid by any stretch. meanwhile the entire second verse is stellar even for lana. the chorus has a chaotic time change but it's meant to be chaotic, lana and her producers have the ability to make a clean song and she did exactly what she wanted to with the song. the outro is incredible.

can someone explain the appeal of nfr to me ? first half is fantastic but after cinnamon girl (which is probs the best song on the album) everything becomes aggressively mid and unmemorable. i'm very much not opposed to more minimal music either, it's just that literally none of the back of the album does it for me

I don't think it is fair to rank Lana Del Ray aka Lizzy Grant among LDRs albums. I see Lizzy Grant (Lana before Lana) and Lana Del Rey like two different artists. LG is more "grungy", "raw", "homemade" if you will. Most of her songs make people gasp (lyric wise), the themes of her songs are chaotic and dark under a (mostly) happy, catchy tune or melancholic guitar. I personally LOVE Lizzy Grant stuff and I LOVE LDR but they're not the same persona and yeah, may not be the same quality than other LDR records but it feels so personal and so "I am just a girl that likes to sing and I hope to make it big some day but also I'll sing what I want" that's so refreshing and brilliant and why it is loved by many.
