I believe so.

My favourite thing about the farting butt jokes (apart from an old fashioned juvenile laugh) is that in Tom’s vlogs leading up to that asdfmovie he repeatedly mentioned that the concept was silly and people would probably hate the jokes, and once the episode released the response was immediately overwhelmingly negative. He knew no one would like it, he very quickly regretted it, but the idea made him laugh once and he decided “fuck it” and put it in. Truly the farting butt is the ultimate symbol of artistic integrity.

@@caps_lock decomposition doesnt always need oxygen. There is fermentation for example. There are also plenty anaerobic micro organisms that dont need oxygen reproduce or feed themselves. A lot of bacteria in our body dont fare well with an abundance of oxygen and would be more likely to cause damage when the aerobic micro-organisms would die.

@@caps_lock I dont know much about the human microflora, but while they could survive at -130C for a long time, some thermophilic bacteria actually thrive between 40 and 122 C now, the sun would probably destroy most of our body well before that happens though. The vacuum would indeed be an issue in the long run huh. I guess ill keep it at the body slowly disintegrating from high levels of radiation

When I was in middle school my family didn't have Internet so I thought the (seemingly) random shit my friends often said was stuff they made up. Then I saw these sketches for the first time on my TikTok feed about a week ago and realized that all the "random" shit they were saying back then was actually mostly asdfmovie references. I would definitely argue that what makes an asdf joke "good" is honestly how well it works itself in culturally. I think that both neatly explains why newer jokes didn't perform as well, but it also reflects the general lexicalisation of the popular jokes. A common element of them is that they're simple, short-hand phrases that work well when directly quoting or referencing the series as an in-joke with other people who've seen it, and i think that very strongly reflects the overall cultural place that asdfmovie has.

came back and re-watching this I can say that most of the reasons I think the top ten were so popular was because these were some of the most memorable jokes/lines like the terminators line "I'll be back" and even in comic form u can hear the voices if you have watched asdf movies before wish he left the site up though would love to see the rankings 2 years later

I don't think I would've laughed at any of the 'farting butt' jokes on their own, however, seeing them all end up as the worst four is something else.

The joke isn't funny enough for TomSka to get away with using it more than once (maybe twice). If FB1 and FB3 were left at the drawing board, I don't think they would be as bad as they are because FB2 and FB4 contain at least somewhat funny wordplay, but FB1 both was a bad attempt at a joke that came too far out of left field and was the one to set the precedent that would stick in people's minds due to being the first of the four. As a result, the entire tetralogy was brought down with it. FB3 somehow being even worse than FB1 didn't help either.

My favorite would probably be the sketch where Jimmy kills the dog. I know, I am horrible. But that was before 13, where I was introduced to...well, 13 just came out, so I should let you watch it, but it has a ball in it.

I love how in the analysis of types of ASDF jokes, the joke both preceding and succeeding his identification conform to that analysis.

That sketch at the end was worth watching the entire video

I realised today, that the guy climbing out of another guy, was the guy eaten by the second one earlier.

Much as I don't like that whole shade Radow legends thing this is the best integration I have ever seen and actually didn't skip through, props Tom, glad I've watched since the ASDF vids came out in my middle/mandatory school days

That stairs joke is still one of my favourites from this series. Amazing.

My favourite sketch is probably the “You know who’s gay? Us.” It is unexpected in a certain way, has reoccurring characters and brings joy. Though I have to say the perfect joke was also very good indeed.

@@TheLostArchives1 Ok so Astrum Deus is a worm boss from calamity mod who in lore roams space and calamity mod is a mod for terraria and terraria is basically 2d Minecraft but better(?) and different and so Astrum Deus could have eaten Desmond the moon bear sentence done without commas.

I wasn't expecting this to be so well thought out... well done

It's nice to think I help keep this man fed, sheltered, and alive just by watching asdf videos
