    To be fair, while adults may eat these on occasion, it's kids that typically the customer. There are adult cereals that have significantly less sugar. But most of these were my childhood breakfast and I still love to eat these on occasion, especially as a topping to ice cream or in a milkshake.

    Something weird I realised while reading labels the other day. Fruit Loops contains less sugar than most "adult cereals that have significantly less sugar". I was really confused. Don't know if that's true, or Fruit Loops uses some kind of loophole to reduce the number on the label.

  • @roymarshall_

    @@wavenp I once walked down the grocery aisle and calculated calorie density for every cereal I could see. Fruit loops was at the bottom. Not by a ton, but they are slightly lower calorie per gram than most other cereals. I do think the whole idea that "adult cereals" are in any way healthier is just marketing. Everything about cereal is marketing. Cereal is simply not good for you. Its empty/high glycemic index carbs, whether from the wheat flour or from the sugar.

  • @Homer-OJ-Simpson

    @Homer-OJ-Simpson

    Жыл бұрын

    @@wavenp You have to look at sugar per calories to really get an understanding. Many adult cereals have larger serving sizes so have more calories on the label including sugar. Fruit Loops appears to have 12g of sugar for 150 calorie serving. I looked up a random cereal and it was Special K Protein. That has 9g of sugar but 220 calorie portion. So fruit loops is 12.5 calories to 1g of sugar ratio and Special K Protein has 24.4 calories to each 1g of sugar so Fruit loops has twice the sugar for each calorie. I tend to choose my cereals by looking at which have the highest protein + fiber for each calorie (or lowest calorie for each protein+fiber). Since all calories are fat, protein and carbs and the carbs are broken down into fiber (good), sugar (bad) and regular carbs (bad but not as bad sugar). Cereals usually have minimal fat so the more that is coming from protein and fiber, the less that is coming from sugar and non-fiber carbs. Protein & fiber are not only healthy but also make you feel full. Using those two cereals, Special K Protein has 21g fiber+protein per 220 calories and fruitloops has 4g fiber+protein per 150calories. Special K Protein has 10.5 calories for each fiber+protein and fruit loops has whooping 37.5 calories per fiber+protein, 3.5x the number of calories for each fiber+protein.

    @@rosa-mv7gl Much better that way imo, I went off all sugar filled foods a while ago, but if kid me had to worry about losin his teeth over coco pops, I would've went, well, cocoo.

    Frosted mini wheats, Cinnamon toast crunch, fruit loops, frosted flakes and cocoa puffs are cereal you can get in Germany too under a different name. They might taste different idk but they have the same concept.

    I put the cereal first, then the milk and depending on my mood, I either eat it cold or warm it up in the microwave.

    Plain cheerios are actually not unhealthy. You can add them to your diet without concern. I used to add them to my oatmeals for some crunch.

    Pretty solid ranking although I can't stand the milk that's left after miniwheaties. It's weird because it's not much different from raisin bran which I love. You could easily do a part two by the way, so many options to make your head spin.

    Squarespace got him.. can't wait for Raid Shadow Legends!! My two favourites were not included: plain corn flakes, without sugar, but you add a spoon of sugar to it, and plain Cheerios, without honey, but you add a spoon of honey to it. Both healthier and more flavorful than most of the other crap!
