What Is The Airbus 'Soft' Go Around?! Real Airbus Pilot Guide for Flight Simulators!

Ойындар

This new feature from the A320 NEO has been added to our flight simulators so let's take a look at the Soft Go Around! What does it do, and how do we use it.

I am a real world Airbus pilot with thousands of hours flying the real aircraft and thought it would be fun to have a look at the new detailed simulation of the longest baby 'bus by Toliss as well as the new MSFS a320 NEO. Hopefully you find this useful and it brings another perspective to your simulation. Any thoughts or comments are welcome!

Thank you so much for explaining and demonstrating "The Soft Go Around " feature of the A321. I am a Maintenance Controller for an airline and last night when I put an MEL on one of our aircraft it was noted in the MEL that the "Soft Go Around" feature would not be available due to the placard. I didn't know what the MEL was referring to. I knew exactly where to go and quickly get a detailed explanation and flight demo! Cheers Brother! Thanks for making my real life career a bit easier.

After being on the flight deck for your trip to Cairo yesterday, feels like you’re becoming part of the family. Your tutorials are simply the best---clear, concise and obviously coming from a guy who knows what he’s talking about. But now I have a problem.....having watched virtually all your tutorials on the Airbus. ( both sim models)over the past couple of month, I now have to take copious notes so that I can review the salient features later......my poor little brain just can’t recall all the myriad of detail you put into each vid. Great job Capt.....keep at it 👍👍

Great tutorial and explanation of the different go around procedures, and why you would use one verses the other. Thx!

I was playing FS2020 last night from Edinburg to Zurich and I was told to go around 500ft above runway. I was using A32NX MOD 0.5.1 and soft go around was available! Sorry I did not capture that moment but it was interesting to have it after watching this video before I play! As usually thank you very much for such an informative tutorial and I even have to watch your tutorial twice at least to get the fundamental knowledge of how they work and procedures! Happy new year!

As always a great video. I've used this go-around mode in MSFS on the A32NX. It does make the whole maneuver so much more relaxed. Airbus designed a great system there

Is soft go-around available in the current stable A32NX Pete or a dev build?

I typically just check and install the Dev build of the aircraft. I'm sure it's on the stable version as well, but I could be wrong

Thanks you great video. Touch and go seems worth a go as well. I've seen youtube of airbus pilots training where they do touch and go in first landings.

Really nice tutorial. I think the config warning is just a bug. Pretty sure it only goes off if there’s weight on the wheels. With respects to disconnecting the AP too late in the low go-around when demonstrating GA SOFT, you had CAT 3 DUAL on the FMA so no limitation in disconnecting the AP at any height. You only need to disconnect the AP by 160 ft when CAT 1 is displayed in the FMA. 👍 I always brief guys I fly with that I’ll only use GA SOFT down to 500 ft (our stability gate). Below this I will only use TOGA as I consider it too close to the ground after that, as you also alluded to. This isn’t a company SOP, nor an Airbus SOP but I think it’s a good habit to get into.

What do we mean by sequencing the flight plan? When under radar vector, and given intercept heading to the final course for an ILS approach, we usually sequence from a point on the final course? How do we decide from which point to sequence and what do we mean by sequencing? Appreciate any thoughts on this topic. Cheers!

Nice video well done. Personally the biggest use of a soft go around is a non standard ATC intervened one where your instructed onto a heading and non standard altitude. Fingers spinning wheels etc rapid mode changes the soft go around which Boeing have had fir decades is a life saver. Oh the FSLabs does auto Nav mode on a missed approach its the only Airbus in sims that has auto nav. Tollis model still has a very old S3 software version which left service 10 years ago in a supposed new airframe. In short they are short changing users. They still havnt implemented numerous normal features like correct Finalapp behaviour for RNAV approaches which is a core fundamental of any Airbus “simulation”. Im not the biggest fan as the continual release of half baked products is a typical xplane producer feature. In short dont bother getting the base model working correctly just keep on pumping out releases. Heaping praise on devs releasing half baked products rather than calling them out only encourages more half baked products exactly like msfs and its horrendous NEO.
