Go Around Tutorial with a Real Airbus Pilot: ToLiss A321 X Plane 11

Ойындар

Join me for a tutorial on flying Go Arounds in X Plane 11 with the ToLiss A321. It is not comprehensive and more videos will follow with more complex go arounds but hopefully this gives you an idea of the basics!
I am a real world Airbus pilot with thousands of hours flying the real aircraft and thought it would be fun to have a look at the new detailed simulation of the longest baby 'bus by Toliss. Hopefully you find this useful and it brings another perspective to your simulation. Any thoughts or comments are welcome!
This video is intended for home entertainment only and does not reflect or represent any real world aircraft or airline procedures. It is for home flight simulator enthusiasts only and has no real world application.

I wanted to review this tutorial on the go around. Last night I was watching a live A 320 flight. The sim pilot was not a real A320 pilot. He was on final to land at Washington DC Airport. He could not lower the gear something was wrong somewhere. He tried at least 4 times with no luck while continuing his decent to the runway. He was resigned to the fact that this was going to be a belly landing. I started to type in to go for a missed approach but someone else told him to use the manual gear handle. The sim pilot did not even know were it was located. He had to be directed to it's location mean while the aircraft is still descending to the runway. He finds it and cranks the gear down and locked then lands the aircraft wheels down. He rolls out and comes to a full stop at the end of the runway. I sat there with my jaw dropped open in disbelief. He and the rest of the viewers could not believe it either. Now I know what he did was just plain wrong and he was lucky that's all. I do have to admit it was one wild ride down final to the landing.

Once again, an excellent and useful video. Many thanks! I was just wondering about go arounds that rely on ATC vectoring after you've followed the initial missed approach procedure (ie the approach chart says something like " ... then as directed by ATC..."). Obviously this takes care of itself in real life or when using VATSIM, but could you recommend a way that we can plan and then 'self-vector' to a holding point and then make another approach if we're not using VATSIM? May I also offer another suggestion for your tutorial 'to-do list'? Would you please make a tutorial for step climbs or descents? Thanks again, please keep these excellent videos coming!

Thank you for watching as always. I like your idea about self vectoring, I will add it to the list. For step climbs/descents do you mean procedural (so the chart includes altitude constraints at each waypoint) or from ATC where they limit your climb over the radio?

@@320SimPilot Thanks for the response, and congratulations on the 200 subs :). I was initially thinking about the alts specified at waypoints in a flight plan (ie TNT/F380). Some guidance on how comply with ATC level change instructions would also be really helpful for those of us thinking about using VATSIM at some point.

I love your videos about procedures! For the next Q&A: What about a late Go Around in a circling approach? When you activate the secondary FPLN you don't have a go around procedure, or? Thought about it yesterday when on VATSIM I was on the LOWI 08 circling approach and it was quite busy on the runway. Fortunately everything went well 8-).

Many thanks for this great video and tutorial. J Just made a flight before on VATSIM to ESSA and had to perform a go around due to traffic on the RWY. I could manage it but wished to had a pilot monitoring. I tried an engine out scenario after V1 (GW appr. 82 tonnes), but I think the performance was very low, I got almost no climb rate. I would be interested in your opinion about this and may be you can do a tutorial when you think the performance allow it.

You are welcome! Yes single crew procedures can be very busy in flight simulator. I have not yet had a look at engine failures at V1 in the ToLiss but I will soon, and indeed will plan to make a video about it!

On the ILS chart there is a missed approach procedure. It will probably be vectors for a new approach from the last point of the missed approach procedure
