Te-Gh-W/Y ط غ و/ی طَغیٰ (tagha): to be out of limits, this is why flooding of a river water which comes out of its banks is called طُغْیَانٌ (tughyaan). اَطْغَیٰ (atgha): made him cross the limit, or limit breaker, instigated him to mutiny, made him rebellious. الطَّاغِیْ (at-taaghi): one who goes out of limits and breaks the law. Plural is اَلطَّاغُوْنَ (at-taghoon) and اَلطَّاغِیْنَ (at- taagheen). طَغْیَۃٌ (taghya) is a mountain difficult to climb. طَاغِیَۃٌ (taaghia): oppressive and proud, foolish and harsh. It also means severe lightning and dangerous storm. طَغْوَیٰ (taghwa) means rebelliousness and breaking the limits {T, M, Lisan-ul-Arab}. طَاغُوْتٌ (taaghoot) has come from this, which is used for any limit breaker. It is also used for someone who detracts from the right path and puts on the wrong one {T, M, R}. Johri says it means leader of the rebels . Zajaaj says that anything aside from Allah_s system, if followed, is طَاغُوْتٌ (taghhoot), i.e. every system or law not based on the permanent values of the Quran. ( lughat ul Quran By G.A Parwez)

Taghoot seems like it is a Power, that can be misused by people over the weak and poor. Since for 1500 yrs muslims are mainly fighting within themselves over to attain power and resources this concept of taghoot can be easily misinterpreted and hence misused.

Dr. Sahab, your effort is commendable. I would call this video of yours as a by product of the lecture of Sahil Adeem, as it sheds light on "Taghut" to increase knowledge about this word, but you have not even touched the "Theme" of what Sahil Adeem was trying to impose upon Pakistanis. What I have understood from his this sitting and some other videos of him, he being a Hashmi is claiming to be the final authority being a HEIR of the prophet (PBUH), and hence denying all other authorities made by Parliament and democracy to be Taghut. This is the real problem Pakistan and its democratic system is facing now. Why Taliban are attacking the Army, the Judiciary, the Education system, the Police and all other Infra Structure of the Riasat e Pakistan? Just because this is their sincere belief that this all being Western concept is "Taghut" and what can only be followed is just the way the prophet used to run the state of the affairs. They also believe that only some Hashmi, Qureshi, Syed, Gilani, and so on, can only be the person being the Heir to prophet, fit to lead the Umma. That's why they are destroying the basic Infra structure of the state through violence (suicide bombers etc.), and on an other level through Scholars like Sahil Adeem Hashmi, so that the state may be paralysed and it then crumbles down and some Heir emerges to take the controle and make it an Islamic state in true sense. This is what the fight is going on for. Hope you will look on it through this angle also and give suggestions for the way out to Pakistan as state so that it may start functioning as a normal modern state as was the vision of Quid e Azam, the founder of this state. We all love Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). But as for me, I believe that being a follower and being a fanatical bigot are two different things. If you do not move on with the time, you will be left behind and will only be a laughing stock for the rest of the world; who rely upon their inventions and abusing them as well day and night.

But biggest problem is that our youth who never opened a book , don't have any islamic jurisprudence knowledge, don't have knowledge about history of islamic empires and what couses the conflict among them, and dont know about modern nation states. They think that they will conquer the state and world and establish so called islamic state. Whenever i ask these people how do you elect or select your " khalifa" they will never answer. Simply means that the administrative system has to be in line with Allah's commandments and his representative on earth (Caliph) thus democracy is simply taghoot cause have random rich rapist scared fools elected by fools in the parliament deciding how our lives are going to be governed. Because of this we also go to the UN to get dictated about our issues, e.g., Kashmir. We also have to abide by the laws given by the current liberal world order which is just the modern "kahins" as we can see the judgement of ICJ on Israel. In your video you've almost restricted the word taghoot to the kuhaan (kaahins). I'm Not saying that that's a wrong interpretation of it, rather it's an extremely partial and/or selective interpretation of it and not holistic/whole (which I'll elaborate a little bit, here below). Taghoot ki ayaat Quran mein sirf kahin se hataa kar RasulAllah (Saw) ko leadership deny k liye nazil nahi huin. This Quran addresses all muslims till qayamah, and we don't see a lot many kahins nowadays to whom we go for our policy making. Rather there are politicians, bazurg, babbey, generals, capitalists, seth nd mafias, who make UnIslamic societal, economic and political policies in our world. Furthermore, Lesgislation Belongs To Allah Only! RasulAllah (SAW) apne paas sey faisley nahi karty thy, he used to judge/rule/decide according to Kitab-Allah. Jahan Quran mein kaha gaya hey Humne Ye Kitaab Nazil Ki, is se murad literally book nahi hey, is se muraad the legislation, rules, guidances and the system itself. So Apne jitni Qurani Ayaat mention kin unka matlab bhi restrict/narrow krdia! Maqsad sirf ye nahi k RasulAllah k paas jakr faisley karein balky yeh k RasulAllah k baad bhi Quran k against jakar koi faisla na kia jaye. Now See 9:12, 9:30 & 10:02 Can't see how u concluded that at 10:02 from that verse! Now What is Taghoot? Hazrat Umar & Ibn e kathir reffered to it as shaiytan (which includes every sort of evil whether practiced individually shirk etc. or collectively as a societal, political system) In short anything UnIslamic that goes against Islam or its system, is evil and comes from the devil whether modern world's Democracy, Capitalism, Communism, Socialism. Shirk etc. are already accepted as evil or taghoot by most Muslims but the word & its definition is lost by the Muslims when in political, societal, economic affairs. That's what our jahaalat is. Becoming unaware of the same concept when it comes to the greater systems. We can't skip, ignore partial meanings of Quran and accept just those that fit our perception, desires & wishes. That's only where I disagree with your stance in this video, Being Selective! The scholar sure gave a unique interpretation but maybe bcoz that was not on the mainstream, but it shouldn't be viewed or presented partially/solely. Why taghut ≠ kahin? 1. Taghut ka literal meaning sarkashi or apni hudood se barhna hei. Ye sirf kahino k paas janey se nai hota it's for every field of life! 2. Agr taghoot sirf kahin hotey to Al-Baqara: 256 mein taghoot ka kufr(inkaar) krk Allah pey eeman laney ka hukm hei. Al-Nahl: 36 mein Allah ki bandagi karne or taghoot (ki bandagi) se bachney ka hukm hei. (In its arabic bandagi ka lafz Allah k liye istimal hua isliye wohi lafz aagey taghoot k sath bhi hey, nah k 2 martba bandagi word use kia. It's Arabic language style) Agr taghoot sirf kahin hotey to Allah unk liye bandagi ka word na usey kartey, bcoz wo log unki ibadat nahi kia karty thy, but the point is, bcoz they ignored the Islamic rules and went for Unislamic way isliye bandagi na krny or inkaar krney ka hukm hua, same applies to when you follow any UnIslamic system anywhere in ur life!

Referring legislation means man made rules or laws for masses control and ascribe to Allah.

Sir if Jews and Christians were not accepting Muhammad P.B.U.H as a prophet, then how can they allow Muhammad P.B.U.H to resolve their personal matters? If we apply this definition of taghuit on our present day judicial system, we can easily say that chief justice Faiz Essa and some his kahin are representing taghuit when he says that the courts are not for providing justice but to safeguard the country constitution thus favors the powerful. On the other hand justice Atthar minallah & justice Aisha & justice Muneeb etc are representing the other side who argue in favor of the defenders or powerless.

I like Dr Sahib, however, there are few points I like to mentions. Firstly, Mr H Rahman had his opinion, we respect that, I did not read his article but whatever Dr Sahib is referring to looks to me that H Rahman tried to localise the prophet’s (peace be on him) his global mission, for example the people of Madina used to bring their local and personal issues. Resolving local and personal issues were only part of the broader message. Dr sahib intentionally or unintentionally did not mention probably the most important Ayat where God uses the term Taghot for the first time, the ayat number 256 of 2nd Sarah-لَآ إِكۡرَاهَ فِي ٱلدِّينِۖ قَد تَّبَيَّنَ ٱلرُّشۡدُ مِنَ ٱلۡغَيِّۚ فَمَن يَكۡفُرۡ بِٱلطَّـٰغُوتِ وَيُؤۡمِنۢ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدِ ٱسۡتَمۡسَكَ بِٱلۡعُرۡوَةِ ٱلۡوُثۡقَىٰ لَا ٱنفِصَامَ لَهَاۗ وَٱللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing. So Taghot denotes anything worshipped in stead of Allah, everything or anything which turn the man away from God and leads to evil so best rendering is the powers of evil. I also do not agree with Dr sahib that Prophet was lenient towards poor and suppressed- yes he was but more so he was towards the justice and truth. He had given verdict against a Muslim in favour of a Jew. Lastly, prophet had to punt a lot of efforts not to be accepted as a person to solve local and personal issue but to be accepted as a prophet and messenger so that people could listen the message

@@muhammadmohsin1021 the quotation you provide does not in anyway contradict the interpretation offered by Dr. Habib ur Rahman. The Quran very clearly says that people took their “disputes” to the Taghut. @@Taimur_Laal thank you very much indeed for your reply, you are right, my only contention was that it was the part of the mission, the broader meaning was anything which could take away from God was Taught, as the oneness of God was so critical in Islam that even a subtle attributions of God to someone/something else could take one away from God. thanks again, I learn from you, God bless
