The most recently completed solar cycle-Solar Cycle 24, began in December 2008 and ended in December 2019, the only cycle to have lasted precisely 11 years. It is considered the weakest cycle in 100 years, and the 4th smallest intensity recorded beginning from the inception of the Solar Cycle 1 in 1755. It started with a minimum sunspot number of 2.2 and in April 2014 it reached its solar maximum, with sunspots peaking at 114, well below average, which is 179.
