    Liked! Excellent video. This seems so fundamental and important, might you consider doing a part two of this topic?? Specifically, I would appreciate seeing examples ABD details of how to use a mirror to check and confirm alignment. Or, perhaps, what a non-archer friend should specifically be looking for in checking your alignment. Great stuff!

    Thank you for your videos, they are a great help to me because only recently I have restarted Archery with a recurve bow. At present I'm trying to build up strength using bands given to me by the physio department after my operation on both my shoulders ie rota cuff repair, 2 years apart. Your videos are a great way to catch up after 5 years. I'm really grateful. BTW I have only discovered your channel recently and Subscribed.

    the wedge alignment is the best if there was not expansion through the clicker or keep drawing while release. the body movement to keeping the wedge is rather more complex and left right side of body are much more unsymmetric. the wedge would be good for a static holding and release.

    This might sound like a silly Question but can your arms be "to long" for good alignment? Currently my Draw-Shoulder is to fare out (away from the body) just like you showed in your bad example. However to get my Draw-Shoulder into alignment I have to increase my draw out length to the point where my Hand would be closer to my throat and therefore impossible for me to get a good anchor. Hope this makes sense and maybe someone has a good idea what I am doing wrong ;)

    Does good body alignment will increase arrow draw lenght from bad body alignment?

  • @AG-hw1uz

    @AG-hw1uz

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yes alignment will increase your draw length if your alignment is very bad and then correct your alignment it will increase your draw length even more

    I have been seeing this diagram for a while, but this is the first time I noticed the line associated with the bow hand and shoulders. The "misalignment" I was using may exlpain some of the shoulder pain.😄

    I'm capable of achieving the proper alignment but I have a very limited string clearance for my bow arm and sometimes the string will catch the back of my arm guard. Any ideas to remedy this?

  • @AG-hw1uz

    @AG-hw1uz

    4 жыл бұрын

    Make sure that the elbow on the bow arm is not rotated towards the string meaning the part of where the arm bends on the inside of the elbow should be closer to vertical that to horizontal. You cab practice this by holding on to a pole like you would your bow and then rotating your elbow from a horizontal position to a vertical position

  • @OnlineArcheryAcademy

    @OnlineArcheryAcademy

    Great question, and reply by Adriaan below :) Also, make sure that your bow hand position is good on the grip, and you only have the thumb-pad side touching the grip. If the lower part is touching the grip it will be harder to rotate the elbow and you might get less clearance. Finally, make sure that your execution is strong and there is no collapse; if there is a collapse on the bow side it will make the string much more likely to hit the arm.

    To stress alignment without taking into consideration limb lever length variance leads many archers to disappointing results.

  • @OnlineArcheryAcademy

    @OnlineArcheryAcademy

    4 жыл бұрын

    This is a common question, but I've seen hundreds of archers with different limb lengths and the common factor with good alignment is simply that they worked hard to achieve it. Why do you believe that limb length would cause the alignment to be different?

  • @kennethrobie8789

    @kennethrobie8789

    @@OnlineArcheryAcademy The standard picture perfect "T" form assumes that each archer's lower to upper arm length is symmetrical. That is if you bend your arm at the elbow( where else) you should be able to touch the top of your shoulder with your thumb extended. This is considered typical anatomy. It also allows you to "generally" place your grip at the finger tips along your sternum. This allows you to create the classic power triangle as viewed from above. The human body has a ton of variances. The arm limb length variance is very common and will influence the power triangle adaptation the most. Some will have a more difficult time achieving the preferred anchor position with relation to elbow alignment and height without body compensation some place else. There are no absolutes in life with regard to the human body form so adjustments must be observed and considered when placing archers in a certain mold. Just my thoughts!
