What Is Severe Scoliosis?

The most common scoliosis patients at the Scoliosis Reduction Center are patients with severe degrees of scoliosis. This commonality is usually because those patients have followed the directions of traditional practitioners that fail at addressing the curve. These patients are often told to watch and wait until the curve is severe enough to get surgery.
In some cases, if a child has moderate scoliosis, which consists of a curve between 25 and 40 degrees, they might start using a Boston Brace to hold the curve in place. However, this is not the case for adults. These patients usually get treated for the pain that scoliosis causes, but the curve is never reduced.
For more information about severe scoliosis treatment please visit: www.scoliosisreductioncenter....
This condition can cause many different symptoms that vary between cases. Some of the symptoms include but are not limited to:
Severe postural changes
Asymmetry in hips, waist, and head
Swayback posture
Headaches
Joint pain
Digestive issues
Sleep disruptions due to pain and stiffness
In adults, severe postural changes can also start affecting their mental health. Their self-esteem could be impacted by certain postural changes that modify the way they look.
Scoliosis surgery consists of a spinal fusion, where the vertebrae are realigned and fused. Even though the curve is straighter, this spinal fusion also causes the spine to be completely immobile.
There is currently very little research and data that can provide more insight into the long-term effects of spinal fusion. Most patients are willing to try other alternatives to surgery.
One of these alternatives is the functional approach. This treatment method manages to reduce the curve without affecting the spine's ability to function properly.
Receiving a tailored treatment plan can achieve these results. The exercises and activities can vary, but some examples are corrective chiropractic care, scoliosis-specific therapy and rehabilitation, scoliosis-specific home therapy, and scoliosis bracing.
Dr. Nalda's recommendation for patients with severe cases of scoliosis is to explore surgical options. If this is not a possibility, it is important to address the curve and prevent progression. The right treatment approach can manage scoliosis and maintain the results achieved.

Severe scoliosis is the most common level of scoliosis that Dr. Nalda sees among patients at the Scoliosis Reduction Center. The traditional approach that is recommended at this stage is spinal surgery. This is often the motivation to visit the Scoliosis Reduction Center. Patients want to explore other options to avoid surgery. When a curve reaches 40 degrees or greater it is classified as severe. One of the more prominent signs of severe scoliosis is postural changes.

I wore a removable back brace in 3rd and 4th grade in the early 1970s. I thought I was done with scoliosis until a Nurse Practitioner read my xray yesterday and asked me if I knew I had severe scoliosis. I had no idea and was in shock. Your video is comforting and informative. Thank you. I will watch more videos. I live in S FL and welcome any comments from anyone. Thank you.

I have a 104° angle. I'm 49. My dad didn't believe in Drs and so my back has progressed over the years. When i went into my mums care, she took me to the Royal Children's Hospital. They had some information about me because When i was born, i was flown by helicopter to the RCH, i died twice, my lungs collapsed, my Esophagus wasn't developed properly and i had a horse shoe kidney, that wasn't functioning so they removed it. And here i am today, with 104° Cobb angle at the upper region to my neck. I have a hunched back. Plus my lumbar and tail have twisted a bit. It's like a capital S, but the lower s, is smaller at the same time if u can understand what i'm trying to explain. I'm on the NDIS and from Australia. I don't have any family living now. I try and do the best i can, but it doesn't take long for me to feel aches and pain. My head protrudes forward and it honestly feels like my head wants to fall off..!! I have breathing issues. I can't walk far at all. I get puffed out from taking my bins out to be emptied. I rely on my car. I got no hope of anything fixing this. I have had balancing problems for years. My toes have to be in an upwards position to help me stand. I can't afford anything, especially on a Disability pension and the rate of changes to the cost of living. Our government doesn't even really think about us. They're more interested in helping the people who have jobs and money. I was told when i was younger that I'd end up in a wheelchair. I'm so stubborn. I ain't giving up that easy..!! Take care everyone, and good luck on ur journey.

I wore a brace when I was younger and I think my last x rays was when I was around 18 and then they said I was good because I wouldn't be growing much more. I don't remember what my last curve was but I want to say it was like 32-36 degrees. Needless to say I am now 30 and my doctor noticed my back looks like it has gotten worse so she had me get x rays done and I now have a 46 degree curve. The right side of my back protrudes out and lately I have pain if I try to lay on my left side but I think I have gotten used to my back being in some pain as I usually don't really think about it or complain. Waiting to see a specialist next month to see what my options are. Definitely not wanting to get surgery done as the whole process seems way to involved and the risks and recovery time is too much. I just hope I don't have any serious complications and hopefully I can do some therapy and get it back down to around 38-40 degrees and then maintain it.

72° and they won't help you!?!!?! My God..!! I swear some doctors (especially a lot of surgeon's) are sadists! They truly believe because MD comes after their name, they automatically know more about your own body than you do. I've had quite a few bad experiences with doctors.. I always get 2nd, sometimes even 3rd opinions after having so many horrible encounters. Just cuz someone went to medical school does not mean they always know what is best. If that were the case, I would still have my left eye. Their egos get way too big, they need to step off a few notches and listen to their patients! When it comes down to it, we employ them, yet somehow they get away with taking a lot of our money without even giving the right treatment. I've had a couple doctors straight up walk out on me instead of get off their high horse and listen to me. Then I go get a second opinion and have that doctor agree with me. A very respected profession with a lot of arrogant douche bags.

I can't give medical advice here, but I can share some information that might be helpful and guide you towards getting a diagnosis for your heartburn and reflux: Scoliosis and heart pain: While scoliosis can affect the chest cavity in severe cases, it's not a common cause of heart pain. Heart pain can have many causes, and it's important to see a doctor to rule out any serious issues. Scoliosis and reflux: There's no direct link between scoliosis and reflux (heartburn). However, the changes in your posture due to scoliosis might indirectly contribute to reflux symptoms by putting pressure on your stomach. Hi Nameh, we have been able to help many of our patients achieve a reduction in their spinal curve and improve their posture through treatment without surgery. Would you be able to connect us with you sister by having her send a message to support@scoliosisreductioncenter.com. Thanks!

Why don't you know the long term effects of surgery. It's has been done for years. Perhaps 50. Who studies this?
