Good for you to be there at the opening salvo, Carefree Cris. It's not the actual festival yet, just a formal practice. The actual festival 's on the 3rd week of January, with the parade & performances, food festivals, car shows and roadside concerts, so many art exhibits in so many art galleries and Museums. Mind you , most of the Museums are open free to the public. Please do visit at least 10. Most of these Museums and Art art Galleries are huddled in clusters within walking distance to one another, and along the way you will pass by American era parks and well-maintained Spanish plazas. Your link from ALL the districts to rhe Diversion Road malls and hotels are the riverside Esplanades. Make the most of your visit by renting a bike.

Panay Island is a great place to visit ..Iloilo City is bit busy coz of the Dinagyang festival but if if you want white beaches then its bit far you have to travel around 2-3 hours ride to Isla Gigantes ,Sicogon and Concepcion . Their is a lot of falls around Iloilo you can see many of it in Lambunao, Igbaras ,Janiuay,Miag ao .By the way J7hotel in Mandurriao is near SM city and Festive Walk .Injap is also a cheaper accomodation in Iloilo its just across SM City Mall. If you wanna go visit Guimaras its just a boat ride away from Iloilo. Antique not far away they have Malumpati cold spring,Calawag Mountain Resort for water tubing and kayaking, kawa bath and natural hotspring. On the other side Boracay is just a 5 hours away from Iloilo and you can find lots of vans and busses going there. Roxas is just few hours away which is known for an old Alcatraz building and the seafood capital of the Philippines.

Let us know how bad the brownouts are. There is another vlogger saying Iloilo only gets 5-6 hours of power per day. I don't think it's that bad so hopefully you can tell us about the brownouts. Have a great trip.

The brownout problem has been fixed, but it took an embarrassing front page headline report with one-fourth page photo of the Megaworld central business district area, in the Philippines Daily Inquirer national daily, to wake the NGCP up. Anyhow Iloilo City's modern business district got a front page free publicity.

All of hotels in Iloilo have generators. My family and relatives stayed in the hotel during the power outage and the airconditioning and hot and cold water didn’t fail. Many of establishments in Iloilo have generators even restaurant so life go on.
