What is PLA Plastic? | What are the Pros and Cons of this "Green" Plastic
Polylactic acid or PLA is known as a green plastic. But what is Polylactic acid?
It is made out of corn or other plants and can be composted. But does the story end there? How green is it? Perhaps, with new composting facilities it will be the plastic of the future!

Great explanation. Thank you.

We have composting on the Seattle are. PLA does NOT need to be specially heated at a commercial composting facility!!! Your picture of a hot fire is misleading because large composting piles in such facilities get hot enough naturally.

You are right. To degrade PLA, around 60°C is needed in a compost.
I have noticed leaving pla shards in warm plant pots degrades and breaks them down over time
Also do not forget, that PLA products can also be reused, recycled via pelletizing and re-injection molding, or chemically recycled besides composting. I always say that PLA is compostable and not "only to be compostable".
I am looking for project related to biodegradable plastic, can you suggest raw materials for better strength

among bioplastics, PLA has the highest strength
I’ve been watching hours long videos essays for weeks and when I got to the end of this video and thought “he’s nots going to talk for an hour about what PLA plastic is, it’s exact chemical makeup, where it was made and by who? That’s a shame.”
