From my understanding working with insurance companies if you want to switch to option B from option A they make you go through underwriting and reserve the right not to switch. With your client who was diagnosed with a terminal illness how was he allowed to switch to option B? I assume not all companies operate that way?

I would have to say most people dont have 500 thousand to invest in 5 years. How would things play out if a 40 yr old had 600 a month to invest? What would his situation look like at age 64? Would his money be making enough to cover the death benefit premium?

Great video. To clarify the design for retirement income, you start off the IUL with Option B (increasing DB) the first 5 years of max funding, then immediately switch to Option A (and at the same time reduce your death benefit coverage) in year 6 when you stop funding? Or do you start off with Option A right off the bat in year 1 of this max funding strategy?

  • @missedfortune

I was told that since I am 23 years old, it would be best to get option B to cover my actual insurance needs until I get to a point that my cash value is sufficient to "self-insure," at which point I can switch to option A and eliminate those higher fees. Thoughts?

Thanks for sharing this, because now I truly understand how the option B works as well as Option A, they are both good examples depending on what your goals are. One question, can you set up two IULs individual policies are, are you only allowed one at a time? I have set up one policy with Curtis Ray MPI with the option B, but was wondering if I could set up the LASER fund with an Option A like you are describing too?

I am not aware of any company in Canada that is offering an IUL. I will look into it though and let you know if I find one. I do know there is a program available with some US insurance companies that will look at allowing you to purchase this as a foreigner, but they usually have fairly high net worth requirements.
