B12 is not found "naturally" in animal products. Animals do not produce B12, it's source is from bacteria that's in soil or spring water. So if you eat unwashed root vegetables and the such, one could get b12 that way, but we don't do that. Cows naturally get their b12 from the soil too, but the feed they consume at the feed lots is fortified with b12 and therefore present in their muscle tissue, and that's why they are a source of b12. Still even animal eaters should take a supplement because they can tend to be deficient, not just vegans...

Great video thanks. Cholesterol by the way is made by your body and dietary cholesterol has no bearing on heart disease. It’s not even debatable anymore so I hope you’re getting enough cholesterol.

Hello. I'm trying to corroborate the following about homemade nutritional yeast (known in the vegan world as "nooch"): Peter Reinhart writes in his "Whole Grain Breads: New Techniques, Extraordinary Flavor" (on page 294): "Or toast ¼ cup instant yeast in a dry skillet until it turns a medium shade of brown. "(Toasting yeast turns it into nutritional yeast as it kills the living cells and leaves behind the nutrient base.)" Can anyone corroborate this? If not, can anyone recommend a source (that does not market nutritional yeast itself) that can? Thanks.

protecting there animal consumptions maybe ? ;-) B12 is found to some extent in soil and plants. These observations have led some vegans to suggest that B12 was an issue requiring no special attention, or even an elaborate hoax. Others have proposed specific foods, including spirulina, nori, tempeh, and barley grass, as suitable non-animal sources of B12. double sides still on this one LOL
