Hi sir from here in the Uk , I think I would describe you as an eccentric which is not meant in a derogatory way far from it . I don’t think anyone on KZread is a comparison to your good self . The guided tour was indeed enlightening , with the mix of speakers ranging from the good the bad and definitely the indifferent . As to how much you fund this your self is a question that one or two have thrown into the mix . But I suspect a good deal of it is funded by you , which brings in the obvious truth that you genuinely are concerned for the person who has little in the way of resources . So from me my total admiration for your quest . Best wishes and kind and kind regards to you and your family 😀👍👍👍

With grown kids out of the house, I no longer step on Legos in the middle of the night, shower with rubber ducks and floating ships, nor do I encounter Happy Meal toys in every conceivable nook-and-cranny the entire house and every vehicle (hell, we just got all the Cheerios cleaned up from 20yrs ago when they were toddlers). No ... nowadays I deal with them not fully moving out, ie.. their cars still in our driveway, their boxes still stacked to the ceiling in multiple rooms, their rooms still in a holding pattern... And I wouldn't have it any other way... it's all to be cherished, and I love every minute. (One thing's certain, they had the finest A/V rig to watch Hannah Montana, and SpongeBob) Best vid ever Cheapo

This is why the channel has grown. Those are far-from-perfect rooms which represents the average home, including mine. The beauty is the absence of perfection in this video. No “treatments”. No uniform arrangement of anything. It’s a home, not a studio or a museum. That’s where the perfection is very evident in this video. This video made me proud to be here. But that’s just me. Well done Randy!

@@Jason787 Not too many have a proper room. Even with a proper room, the opinion is still going to be subjective because people listen differently and have different sound preferences and music tastes. There is no perfect or near perfect scenario that will suit everyone’s listening perceptions when that source is a KZread Channel. It’s not possible. A viewer of such channels should be easily aware of that. The growth of this channel is very indicative that Randy hits far more than he ever misses. Though in my opinion, he hasn’t really missed, resulting in the fast growth of his channel, which has been very impressive. I think the majority of his viewers know that it’s their own ears, within their own environment, that will be the deciding factor regarding if a piece of kit is good or not. Thank goodness for 30-day return policies…😜

I will show this to my better 3/4 to demonstrate that my hoarding of various equipment and media (8 tracks are coming back) could be worse. Or better. It's all perspective. There's some joy and satisfaction in being surrounded by one's interests. Synapses fire, connections are made. There is harmony is the noise of life. I enjoy seeing that when a guy has the desire to communicate and help others, you can make it happen. You don't have to wait until this or that happens, or life is perfect or free of distractions (e.g. rugrats). You are an inspiration. Also, let me know when you have a garage sale, and set aside the good stuff for me, alright?

Love those old Pioneers, the knobs and switches feel so nice. I have an old SA-506 from 1978/79, that has the same controls. 40+ years, still working great. Not the loudest but still enough for the neighbors 🤣

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only 'non-minimalist' around!! 'Also encouraging that you don't feel obliged to 'treat' your room (perhaps the plants wave in time to the music and break up those standing waves and bass reflections)!

Thank you for sharing Randy. I am so envious!! Your wife is a saint! You are a blessed guy! As for your equipment: my first higher fidelity product was a Realistic Quadraphonic receiver from 1975. I got it brand new. Wish I still had it. Glad to see you are using the Denefrips Ares 2 with your McIntosh equipment. I'm using mine with my Conrad-Johnson and am quite pleased. I toy with the idea of upgrading to a Pontus 2 or higher but after seeing yours...maybe not. Super fun audiophile pad you have!!!!

Thank you for the look at your fantastic gears and speakers, Randy. It's very interesting. I although have a lot of speakers and amplifiers in my little listening room, the collection grows with the years, think that many of the audiophiles have the same problem, too many things but less space. But I really don't want miss the stuff that I have and I like it and need this for my hobby and to enjoy music. Great review 👍😁😉

I liked your tour. Nice to see your house is as real as your channel. It is interesting that you seem to gravitate to smaller bookshelf type speakers. I used to have big speakers back when I started out and moved to smaller ADS, B&W, Yamaha, Klipsch and several others, each has its place and unique sound. I found the clarity was better and with quality components and computer designs they still had good bass. Of course subwoofers do help if you want to go even lower. I did get some Sony SSCS5 speakers for my daughter and am quite impressed for the price.

Thanks for the tour! I don't have any ideal listening areas anywhere in my house either, they're just not built with audio enthusiasts in mind. Just got to learn to make the best of what we have. Also, our house is a perpetual mess too, I have no idea how some people manage to keep theirs spotless.

So this is what it takes to have one of the most prolific audio gear review channels on KZread; a helluva lot of space and a very understanding wife/family. 🙂 Thanks for sharing. My listening space is also too close to the wall on the left channel, it is what it is. Doesn't mean I won't have a hi-fi setup just because I don't have a perfect room.
