    The doctor's comments are amazing I like it so much How can a doctor tell the difference between cosmetics and cosmeceuticals? which one is better? Thank you so much

  • @Skynfyx

    Cosmeceuticals are generally regarded as 'medical grade' which contains stronger or a higher dose of active ingredients and usually sold through a doctor's clinic or a pharmacy. However there are no laws behind naming a cosmetic line as cosmeceutical line in most of the countries.

    Again, a very informative video. I was using Sunday Riley A+ high dose Retinoid Serum. I just bought Verso night cream with Retinol 8, haven't used it yet but read good reviews. My main problem is reducing pores, combination and aging skin (I'm 60).

    I slowly built my tolerance to retinol. Started with The Ordinary's 0.1% in Squalene, finished a bottle and then moved on to The Ordinary's 0.5% in Squalene. However I've recently switched to The Inkey List's retinol. Definitely prefer the less oily texture of the product over The Ordinary's.

But this one retinol is very mild and easy to my skin as advertised! I love it and I have sensitive acne prone and oily combination skin!

    I have used kiehl for almost 4years. Have always use calendula foam wash and toner, then darkspot serum ,and hydration oil free gel. It already make my super big pore become small pores and what more important all ny acne has been remoned not even one is bump out , my skin feel radiance and smooth , just have ance marks whovh trapped below my skin , that why kiehl encourages me to use their latest retinol serum i just use for one day . Remember only use twice a week and must only use at night .because using in morning could make your skin get more dark even u apply more sunscreen. Retinol work more function during you sleeping .if twice a week u dont feel dry ,irritated and redness.then proceed use 4 times aweek

  • @DONbLAME
    @DONbLAME2 жыл бұрын

    I don't use retinol anymore. I've moved on to the stronger prescription which is tretinoin (another derivation of retinoids). This product is quite overpriced, but a good starting point for people to start on their vitamin A skincare journey. But remember to gradually increase the dosage as your skin get use to this mild formula. Other alternatives and perhaps cheaper ones are from The Ordinary which has different strength of retinol from 0.5% all the way to 2% all for a fraction of the price. Start with Kiehl's 0.1% and move on to The Ordinary 0.5% then slowly move to their 1% then 2%. And if you still feel you can go higher, seek a consultation with a dermatologist so they would be able to advise and prescribe you with tretinoin (of varying %), which is much much stronger than retinol.

    The problem is people are expecting instant results when using retinol... Use the same brand of retinol that is already suitable for you for 2 - 3 years and keep track of your skin along the way.. you will see the difference... Instant results could mean a path to disaster for your skin... It will get worst once your skin barrier is screwed up

    You need to use gentle cleansers and moisturizers that have shea butter, vitamin e etc. For people with dry skin, I would not use products with HA because if you are in dry environment due to heating on in the winter and AC in the summers, there isn't any moisture in the room. So the HA products I believe will draw moisture out from your skin to the skin surface where it will escape leaving your skin to further dry out. Some dermatologist suggest people to use occlusives like vaseline on top on HA products as it will form a barrier that prevents water loss from skin. Try to look for products that don't have too many ingredients and we can't understand half of them. Perhaps your make up is also drying out your skin.

    Below are just one among many articles including testimonials from many dermatologist) "The tannins in witch hazel are sensitizing, which literally means your skin becomes more sensitive to stressors. Depending on the part of the witch hazel plant used to make it, witch hazel naturally contains between 8% and 12% tannins. In addition to the tannins, almost all types of witch hazel are distilled using denatured alcohol (ethanol), with the extract containing about 14% to 15% alcohol. Although the distillation process destroys some of the tannins (which ironically is a good thing, given that the tannins are irritants), applying alcohol to your skin can be deemed a bad thing because some research has shown it impairs the skin’s surface in very high concentrations. Although, generally alcohol is considered safe in skincare if you have sensitive skin this combination of witch hazel and alcohol can induce irritation. Another interesting characteristic of toning with witch hazel is that because it is an astringent that removes dirt, debris and oil from the skin, it will actually make the skin more oily. The oil that you’re removing sends a signal to your skin to once again give the skin more oil. Always remember, oily skin is dehydrated. You don’t need to remove the oil, you need to add water" (Science & Skincare article - Is witch hazel actually good for your skin? 2020)
