What is Lumin-Shield I hear you ask. Nitecore have been able to use the 9-core LED set up to create a thrower and a flood light into one light. Best of both world for people who are torn between lumens or candela. The single button UI works perfectly

I really love my EDC-33. Nice simple controls, great output, excellent run time and a surprisingly small form factor. Does get VERY hot though when the luminshield mode is active.

It’s a cool function, I think I still prefer a sofirn triple click strobe for “self defence protection” much more sensory disruption. How hot did it get? If I had a torch with the capability of 4000 luminous I would want to use it a lot.

It gets very hot after 10 seconds or so. Hopefully by that point you've managed to fight or flight 😆

I think the high lumen figures are more of a marketing headline and possibly a gimmick. The torch radiates so much heat that either of the turbo modes cannot be used for more than a few seconds. I own the EDC33 so talking from personal experience. Hopefully the EDC35 has better heat dissipation (I doubt it).

You're right. I think that can be said for any torch over 1000 lumens. It's been a peeing up a wall competition for a while now. I have the EDC35 and it kicks out just as much heat. I think Nitecore are coming at the turbo angle differently. That turbo is there to blind to aid in your fight or flight
great review. but i’m still torn. which is the better light to buy? edc 27 or edc 33?

They both have their advantages. I should have some EDC35 content out in the next few weeks to throw a spanner in the works 🤙
How is the tint? Seems a bit green on the lower modes.

I'd say pretty good. Especially compared to other lights. It's not jarring or distracting 😂
