What is killing our young people at an alarming rate?

What is killing our young people at an alarming rate? The hidden pandemic? Fentanyl and other illegal drugs are flooding our southern border. Tens of thousands are dying. Yet, much of the media is silent, and the open border policy enables this horrendous "pandemic." #fentanyl #pandemic #drugs

I'm a nurse in Canada and we've been having a lot of young people coming in with drug overdoses.

It's sad that people are affected by the border crisis. Trafficking of women and children plus drugs is horrible. I'm thankful that I live in Hawaii and raised my children to know what is best in decision making and to be respectful to the elderly and so on. God bless you for this channel.

Just found your channel and subbed. On this subject I would like to say that as a recovering opiate addict (4 years sober) who works as an advocate for others I get a little upset when I hear the word ‘overdose’ associated with fentanyl. It’s not overdose, it’s poisoning, murder. Sure, the addict wouldn’t die if they did not use, however, without judgement please consider that many opiate addicts use for the mere purpose of functioning to avoid withdrawal. If someone buys a pressed (fake) oxycodone loaded with fentanyl they often die because thinking it’s oxy, they ingest the amount they normally would to stave off withdrawal. The fake pills are EVERYWHERE. Please talk to your children about the dangers of taking unprescribed pills. One fentanyl pill the size of a baby aspirin cut into 4 pieces is toxic enough to kill the 4 teens that ingest it.

I hope I understand where are you going with this. In my mind, there has to be a balance with providing appropriate safe care. The government has put the weight on "don't prescribe", leading patients to looks elsewhere for their pain relief. Whether intentional or not you like those policies, they have, IMO, led to an increase in drug overdose and death.

@@DrRickKellyCrossroadHealthDPC I totally agree. Government, pharmaceuticals and health insurance companies should keep out of it, and let doctors with their patients decide whats best.

I agree on the issue and think it must be targeted. And the scale of it and current trends don’t look promising. Each of us can see it “live” in most cities across the US. However after your previous video I was not able to find a proof of the statement, that it was #1 cause of death. Could you share some resources for this statement?

You can look at the CDC statistics and search on this page: wisqars.cdc.gov/fatal-leading For adults up to age 45, you find "Unintentional Injury" as #1 cause of death in US, and if you drill down you find "Poisoning" as the #1 cause of that, which is due to drug OD. It lists ICD10 codes x42 and x44.

Unfortunately, I may have to unsubscribe. I enjoy your medical wisdom and education, but now you're just being political and clearly partisan. You're blinded by your echo chamber and political bias of sticking to your tribe. This sucks.
