    First time I'm watching and listening to positive vibes about winter in Canada and Ottawa in specific. I had no choice but to subscribe immediately because as a positive person I love to be associated with positive people. I'm so encouraged. A lot of people especially those that live or has visited Canada talk about winter/cold in Canada as if it's a curse. One thing they don't realize is how much they discourage new comers. You said one thing that's very striking, that 'one thing about a bad weather is bad choice of clothing' I totally agree.

    #1 hack for living in Ottawa during the winter. Simple just leave Ottawa in the winters and go to Florida, California or somewhere tropically warm. I've lived in Ottawa for my whole life and I love living in Ottawa but I hate the winters. It would be nice if Ottawa had the same climate as Florida. I'd definitely prefer if Ottawa had summer all year long.

  • @LivingInOttawa

    I moved to Ottawa from Brisbane (Australia), I didn't grow up with winter but it's probably my favorite season now, snow is so pretty, and most winter activities are fun as hell. Get out on that canal before they close it, don't wait for the perfect day or it'll be closed for the season. You didn't mention how bad the drivers are here in Ottawa, you would think they would know how to drive in the winter, but no... and don't park your car there or I will call bilaw on you.

  • @LivingInOttawa

    @LivingInOttawa

    Haha. So true Lowe Grade. Seems the first snowfall always signals panic on the roads. Being born and raised here I think I adjusted by just not driving on the first snow fall. Just to avoid all the fun activities of that day. And now with the great auto wheel traction it takes away the fun of the old days of 'fish tailing' you car around corners. And yes, trying to find parking and only to find a large snow mountain taking up 5-6 prime parking spots can be frustrating too!

  • @LivingInOttawa

    @LivingInOttawa

    Canada uses the Celsius and Metric measurement system vs the Fahrenheit system used in the USA. Water freezes at 0 here and if you are below 0 it is obviously colder. From a quick Google search it looks like Africa also uses the Celsius measurement for temperature but perhaps it varies from region to region?

  • @InfinityDz

    @InfinityDz

    Жыл бұрын

    @@LivingInOttawa Yes we do use the metric system but I'm more familiar with the 10 to 40°C range, we don't even get any snow. To us, -10 or -40 is the same, we just label it as "freezing cold". But I'm pretty sure you guys have e.g. different clothing and habits for say -5°C and -25°C, so I was curious about that.

  • @LivingInOttawa

    @LivingInOttawa

    Жыл бұрын

    @@InfinityDz Lol. Correct - Freezing Cold would be a good description. I typically say there is no such thing as bad weather just bad clothing choices. In the thumbnail image of this video you will see I am wearing a down filled jacket. This jacket is warm enough for -40. If it is -20 or warmer than that this jacket would be too warm and we would wear something lighter. Ottawa can swing from -40 in the extreme cases (rare but has happened) to +40 in Sumer with humidity (once again extreme but very rare and only for a short period of time) but I want to illustrate the wide range of weather we experience here. As such we have different clothing options to accommodate each of the seasons. From shorts, t-shirts and flip flops to down filled jackets, scarves, gloves, etc.
