What is ISO? LOW LIGHT easily explained on the SONY A7IV based on Real Life Tests!

Ғылым және технология

Welcome to a fast but breathtaking tour through the Dragon Caves in Mallorca. I took this opportunity to test the low light capabilities of the Sony A7IV (with the Sigma 16-28mm F/2.8) by capturing footage during the tour. I will explain what ISO and low light capability mean, show you many examples, and make direct and detailed comparisons of my shots. Additionally, you'll learn about other ways to control your camera's exposure and which Sony models are best suited for low light video. Enjoy the short visit to the Dragon Caves, and I hope you like the video!

What do you think? Is the Low Light Capability of the Sony A7IV enough? It is not as good as the A7SIII's for sure, but I think it is a good compromise when you want a hybrid shooter! Any opinions? 🤨

A7IV is often promoted as a hybrid camera with very good low light capabilities but in reality is not that good, at least not for video. A7IV can't be compared with Zv e1 for low light video capabilities for exemple, another exemple is Lumix s5ii much much better than A7IV and cheaper. In my opinion, right now A7IV don:t have a place in the market anymore after the last cameras that came into market ( zv e1, lumix s5ii, even eos r6 ii ).

@@NordLys244 I can not fully agree. The USP is the 33 Mpx sensor for photos, therefore I would say the A7IV is > 60% for Photos anyways, but also very good for videos, therefore I bought it, because the A7SIII is > +1000 EUR / USD and only 12 Mxp. In regards of Low Light, yes - it is quite good tbh (it also depends on the lense you're using - i.e. check out this sequence in my Japan Video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/h41nr4-pgLu4mKw.htmlsi=_42avlOcCrJJY3CU&t=669 - I was quite surprised how little grain it comes with), but for sure a A7SIII and a ZV-E1 is better for Video (because the ZV-E1 has the same tech inside like the A7SIII). Means, when you focus on video you should definitly have a look on the ZV-E1 (but no EVF though and sure not that good for photos as the A7IV is and it overheats, because of its smaller size). Honestly, the Lumix S5II was also a candidate during my research, also the R6II from Canon, but the wide range of lenses Sony and 3rd parties offer for Sony is much better. Color Science out of the box goes to Canon imho. So you have to choose what's mostly important for you. I have choosen the A7IV because I wanted to use it for both, but primarly for video. As I bought it in early 2023 the ZV-E1 was not released, today I'm not quite sure if I would buy the A7IV or the ZV-E1, because I use it > 80% for video I would say. Ah and 1 more thing, the A7CII is also now on the market, a smaller A7IV I would honestly not buy ;-)
