If it is flammable, why use it to make fuel tank for vehicles?

All plastics are flammable if you were to put them directly on a fire. However, they are unlikely to cause sparks or risk igniting the fuel, in an automotive setting. They are also lighter and less likely to rupture due to their lack of seams.
