    This is the perfect tool for this application. It fills that gap between a bush-hog and larger machines like dozers and excavators, to clear land. And its basically a one-step process- no trees to clean up or burn.

    Dave what would you recommend for locating and staying within property lines? I know there’s a bunch of apps, coordinate programmable garmins and the good old fashioned get out there and find the metal pin. Thanks in advance and keep up the good work, you’re videos are extremely helpful

    Hi Mike- The most important resource I use for ensuring I stay within unmarked property boundaries is actually the property owner. I put the liability on them to correctly mark their boundaries. They can work this out with their neighbors. I always walk their property lines with them and mark the work area with survey tape. As a contractor, I do not want to get into a dispute with a neighbor. So this is something I talk to customers about when I do my initial visit. Now, having said that, I do use the OnX Hunt app to verify property lines, when needed. Honestly, this has just not been an issue when working on customers land. I don't do R.O.W. work, so maybe some people would complain about running by their property with those type jobs, since most people don't understand ROW's, if they never saw them cleared on their property.

    Fecon vs Bobcats head a little or a lot better?

  • @clevingerforestservicesllc1164

    Part time Farmer Well, my Old Bobcat head was a 2014 model, so I don't know if the new ones are upgraded at all. This 2019 Fecon head is very robust and I like a lot of the improved designed features over the 2014 Bobcat head. The Fecon runs at a higher RPM, and has an easy RPM adjustment, so I like that. Overall, the mulching performance of my new Fecon FGT head is much better than my old Bobcat head.

    Mr.Clevinger, why the Fecon head and not the Bobacat forestry head? Any reason?

  • @clevingerforestservicesllc1164

    @clevingerforestservicesllc1164

    The original Bobcat mulcher that I bought with my first machine in 2014 was just fine. It was very reliable and got the job done. I was just ready for a new mulcher head in 2019, so I wanted to try the Fecon FGT head. I also looked at the FAE head. Both are very good mulchers. I found that this new Fecon mulcher head had some improvements over the older 2014 Bobcat head. The Fecon is just engineered more robust, and has some better features that I like. The push-bar and mounting is more robust. The shape of the over-all mulcher head casing is a better design to resist frame cracking from twisting torgue. The two access covers to get to the hydraulics have better designed locking fasteners and seal better to keep debris out of the head. The hydraulic hoses are routed better out of the head that reduces stress on the fittings at both ends, and they are sealed tight from debris where the come out of the head. This Fecon has a larger drive motor driving the drum. It has an easier method to adjust the drum RPM. The drum RPM is about 200 RPM faster on the Fecon. It has bolt-on replaceable skidpads. There are two rows of counter-tines inside the drum liner on the Fecon, compared to one row of tines on the Bobcat head. The only thing negative I would say about the Fecon head over the Bobcat head, is that the Fecon head is about 300-400 pounds heavier. But I guess that the cost of bigger hydraulics and more robust design.
