What is Expressionism? Art Movements & Styles
The term Expressionism became commonly used in Germany around 1910. Developed from the work of Symbolist artists, expressionist art movements across Germany and Austria emerged; including Die Brucke in Dresden and Der Blaue Reiter in Munich. Artists associated with these groups placed the expression of feelings over all else in their work through the bold use of colour, exaggeration of form and emphasis of the spiritual over the earthly. This short film tracks the story of Expressionism in art, from its beginnings in the early twentieth century, through to its influence on artists today.

Being from the USA, it's refreshing to see educational material with a narrator whose accent that's anything other than American or English... And other UK accents are particularly underrated 😎
Great overview of Expressionism with historical depth I was not aware of. Thank you.
This is awesome. A lot of art history videos are so boring. This is the beautiful middle ground between most videos which are long, boring, and overwhelming or too short with no real information. Well done! Do more!
Just got my A2 art topic today: Expressions. This is so helpful thanks!!!
I love these videos, I just wish that the music was a little quieter!

Yes! Complete distraction, and completely unnecessary. Oh well - glad to have a very quick overview, but cannot bear to watch a second time.
I like the paintings (2.0)
WONDERFUL video about Expressionism. Can somebody tell me the name of the music, please? Thanks.
Yep it's really nice, gives it more interest💙💙💙💙
Cool but can you explain in a bit more detail about the features of expressionist art?
Loved the human spirit at the end. Excellent intro. Thank you for this production.
i have a question about complementary/split complementary and triad compementary colors, not to sound stupid, but is it important that the color complements eachothers (exact) hues or tones or tints? as in, if i were to use a light tint of green, the complementary color is red, does red have to be the same or close to the same tint of red as my green?
can someone told me what is the background music?
Sorry would u please tell me , with what kind of application have u made this video?

most likely with Adobe After Effects. Look for motion design tutorials for after effects.
What is the first image, that woodcut - what's its title?

APEC SCHOOLS !!!!!!
A disappointingly limited view of Expressionism in terms of its development. Moreover where are the women? The only representations of women in this video are in the art. Women were closely involved - crucially involved in development of Expressionsim and Modernism. Futhermore 'exotic'? Colonial interpretations of non-Western culture / identity. Major institutions have an opportunity /obligation to address and contribute to social valuing. Not further the exclusions.
Let's also talk about propaganda art
Gaugain, Munch and van Gogh are not symbolists.
