PPL cannot issue license for any performance. It is an assignee of copyright and issues rights/interests on behalf of owner (Producers). IPRS is a registered copyright society for literary and musical works only on behalf of composers and artists. (Their rights are yet to be determined by courts on the underlying works)

Thanks for the information. About ppl and iprs. Can you please clear one doubt of mine. I wanted to organise a social get together a wedding event in a 5 Star property in Delhi. hotel wants me to apply for a licence of PPL and IPRS as DJ will play the recorded music. the cost of PPL is around 20,000 rupees and IPRS is around 15000 rupees. my question to you is is it legal to apply for these licence in a social event that too in a 5 Star property which already has a yearly ICENSE from PPL and IPrs.

I like groove3.com coz their video player is fast , videos are short and to the point ( no story telling). your video of sidechain compression without any plugin is just d answer. similar videos on other aspects of sampling, arranging, mix and mastering will be awesome.

Contact the Original Owner of the Music. If the song has been produced by T-series, then T-series is the owner of that song. You need to take permission from T-series for allowing you to stream that song online on your app.

Information given by you is wrong. PPL does not deal with Stage Performances. IPRS does not deal with Broadcast directly with the PPL. It's vice versa (apart from other responsibilities). Performing Rights itself means Performing of the song/work, and excludes sound recording. The word Phonogram itself in Phonographic means, a sound recording. So there is the answer. Moreover, there are many labels like T Series who are not members of PPL, and even if they are they might have given the right to only 'Public Performances' of 'Sound Recordings'. If a song is played in public as a record, PPL can provide a license for such event, or establishment (even if it is a barber's shop or a private taxi), and if a song is performed, i.e., live, then IPRS has the sole right to license such performances. If licenses are not taken Indian Music Industry has an enforcement wing. But the burden of proof is on the one who asserts that one's song was played, whether live or a recording. Recordings are owned by Label owners, and performances royalty goes to various people, like lyricists, percussionists, composer etc. So IPRS is a body of people like A R Rahman, Anu Malik etc. Whereas, PPL is a body of sound labels like Venus, Tips, Saregama, HMV, Universal etc. But one has to check what rights are given by these labels to PPL, in relation to collection. If a right to collect merely Public Performance of a Sound Record is given, then PPL cannot collect TV Broadcast license fees for the same label, like YRF collects its own royalty, it does not need PPL's service. There is also SIMCA which is South Indian Music Composers Association which you should look at. There are also third party collectors or aggregators like Hungama, which in fact represents T Series in collection, among others.

Yes you r right PPL has the rights to collect royalty for public performances and radio for their members some have assigned their rights to PPL for both radio as well as public performance T series is member of PPL yes they have given the public performance rights to PPL t series is part of PPL now and even Simca which you mentioned is become part of PPL now so PPL has more then 300 label companies under its belt
