I am over 50 and dealing with this for 8 years now. A lifetime of activity with a misshapen femoral ball has torn the labrum and ground the bone. I had one surgery to clean up the bone and socket but the misshapen bone grew back within 3 years. I appreciate your hip series to help deal with the daily pain. I continue to work on strengthening the muscles in the area and keep my range of motion as much as I can.

For anyone diagnosed or suspecting FAI with or without labral tear - you need a specialist in this disorder. A scope surgery needs a doctor w much experience. There are excellent groups on Facebook. Trust me you need to read everything you can and get all questions answered. It may take consulting w multiple doctors. This is a tricky disorder to treat.

Good Advice. I had the scope surgery which repaired the lateral tear and reshaping the head. Lots of PT to get back to normal but it was the best decision I ever made to get it repaired. I thought it was just flexibility due to age but the discomfort would not get relieved.

Remember folks these clinical tests are far more accurate than fancy mris, x rays. Let excellent clinicians like Bob and Brad conduct the tests to give you a diagnosis.

You forget to mention that people can get osteophytes or bone spurs on the femur, which jams against the socket, preventing movement.

B6 deficiency. P-5-P form works 90% of time. Sometimes helps to take all the Bs, but always in high quality methylated forms. Avoid all grains too, they tend to be inflammatory. Maybe because they may contain glyphosate?

Is it normal for medical diagnosis of hip problems to include some sort of scan or x Ray? I was diagnosed with a labral tear by an nhs (uk) physio about 12 months ago and was put on physiotherapy exercised. The exercises noticeably have strengthened the leg muscles but I still get joint pain and problems with the range of rotation of the leg. Spoke to the physio and they said to keep doing the exercises and then discharged me. No actual imaging tests were done at any point. Should I go to the doctor and request a scan?

I’ve been experiencing hip pain( I believe) in the front groin area, but can also feel it low, in my side/backside where I know the head of the femur would meet the acetabulum. I’ve broken my tailbone twice, I have 5 herniated discs, 2 pinched nerves, spondylitis, osteoarthritis, degenerative disc disease and facet disease all L3-S1. No Dr.’s would operate. I was only 29 at the time of the first break and 34 with the second break. I’m wondering if this new pain would be related to my previous injuries and degenerative diseases getting worse, or if my hips are starting to give me issues now as well? I know you wouldn’t be able to really say without a actual consultation, but in your opinion, should I bother my Dr. right now or give it time to see if it continues? I am still active considering my injuries, and I know it’s not piriformis syndrome because of where the pain is coming from. It’s quite painful, but with the pandemic, I don’t want to be a bother to my Dr if it’s nothing. Any answer would be appreciated and thank you for your time❤️ You guys rock

Hi! My doctor told me I have FAI by x-rays and now I’m waiting for an MRI, but I really don’t think I have FAI, my pain shows up when my hip rotates to the opposite side that you showed in the test, and it’s on the outer side of the hip or in the middle at most, but never on the inner side/groin, what do you think? Many thanks I love the channel!!

I'm 63 with tears in my labrum and gluten in both hips. 10 months ago had both an open and microscopic surgery to do repairs on left hip and fix painful improvement. 4 months later felt awful pain, started limping and impingement came back. Specialist says not enough tissue to try again. Get used to a cane/walker. I beat stage 4 metastatic melanoma but they can't find a way to fix my hip? I'm devastated as I'm in a lot of pain and very unsteady...recently lost my balance and broke 5 ribs. Please help.
