I’m so thrilled to discover this interview with someone whose books I continue to read and re-read! What a gift this is to hear him in conversation. I use as a mantra an idea I got from reading this book Beauty, that beauty leads to courage and courage leads to hope. I love that he says to you, “The intention of the aesthetic, and the spiritual and the creative is to help us come into that sanctuary as frequently as we can. And everyone has it. That’s the magic of it.”

14:02 (he speaks about reverence) “ I think there is a huge arrogance in contemporary culture. I think there is a kind of belief that we can blunder into and beyond any frontier with no preparation, no permission and no recognition of what might await us. I think that one of the things that we have lost in modern life is the reverence of approach because some of the most secret things are the most sacred things. And if you don’t approach with reverence, it will decide not to approach you. I think reverence is a profound sense of respect, expectation and preparation. And I think that if you have that kind of attitude, you’ll be amazed at what will turn up at the door of your life.”
