WHAT IS BALANCE?

Balance is overrated.
My talented filmmaker friend Reece Robinson followed me around for a day and made this little movie. Hope you like it.

Quit taking the Mucuna Pruriens. It contains 15% L-dopa, which depletes Serotonin, L-Tyrosine, L-Tyrptophan, and the Sulfur Amino Acids as shown here: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3355850/figure/f2-ijgm-5-413/. If you take it long enough, the depletions induced from the consumption of the L-dopa will manifest itself in neurotransmitter diseases such as clinical depression, anxiety, etc. Full list of diseases found here in Appendix A: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3355850/.

Great video Rich! I'm 50, athletic and plant based too. I had open heart surgery earlier this year due to congenital valve issue but managed to fight my way back. Everyday up at 4:30 either running, swimming or biking. After 33 years of swimming I decided to branch out into triathlons after the surgery. I just completed my second Oly tri! Looking forward to doing my first IM next. Thanks for the inspiration dude!

Great videos Rich! This has been something on my mind lately. It seems like the key to knowing what balance is for yourself is self knowledge. Meaning it takes time to do the work to get to know yourself. It's so easy to ignore the self by spending time watching KZread (haha) or Netflix, Facebook, TV, reacting to your smart phone all day. Love the videos man. What ever you do don't increase frequency over quality, so if it takes a while to make one then who cares. What you put out is great! Thanks Rich!

Great perspective and honest video. Very much agree with your take on balance and the importance of going all in on business, training or life outside of those pulls when the time is right. Taking a step back after those periods and reflecting, allow you to see the value in pushing yourself in those times to achieve those huge goals. Currently going all in with my training for CCC ultra in September. Good luck with the Swim/Run world Championships!

Good stuff, Rich. Enjoyed both the look at your day as well as your thoughts on intentionality and strategic balance. I've experienced seasons when an hour, a day, week, month, a quarter, or even a training year (macrocycle) lacked balance, but the goal is healthy tension between your roles & responsibilities on the larger schedule.

Hey Rich - Love your content and your videos. I think that there are a lot of people who simply watch your videos because they look up to/ admire you in relation to your past physical endeavours. I think more training videos with you talking to the camera about how you go the distances; how you prepare for training in more detail; how you plan your routes; how long before/ after you eat; what bike you bought and why; when and how you stretch and even what gives you the drive to carry on during an extremely long distances. Yes all this sounds like Personal training content but not many people understand/ know how to train for Ultras. I hope my opinion helps - I didn't want to say advice because I don't think you need it but that's what I think a lot of people would want to see! Take care brother!

Heather Vallentyne Moreau rich..... there is sooo much to unpack in this comment....... Don't let your subjective opinion of *quality* keep you from posting.... just post! We are following you because of YOU! In a way that I'm sure it's very hard to see from your perspective.......... I loved this video! But I'm a filmmaker! KZread, and subsequently film, are goin the way of the post-Baroque French Troubadour... think about how soothing a rough cut acoustic of Dylan feels in between today's near constant dubstep bass drops! Fashion is moving the way of quick, easy jump cuts/single cut talking head style! Kids 15-25 don't even blink if a KZread video has absolutely no b-roll! Again! I love these videos! And we can and should produce more! But for every 1 this good, you should post 9 with sucky lighting by yourself, disjointed and rambling! Lol try to meditate on it!

Great so see another video from your channel Rich, always pleasure to watch Ypu on a journey to be a better version of yourself. Keep up the videos or the vloggs once in a while and mix it with podcasts thats the best way to go forward. And If I don't meet You in Ireland which I hope I will do, I have my fingers crossed for great result in ÖTILLÖ.

Man you are great lad . Lately came across your book ( by coincidence ) and i `d found many of answers i were looking for ages -featherlight like . Food is crucial i pay atmost attention to it and the rest upgraded itself since then . What is more i am 38 now and was on the road claiming my prime time is way behind me and lost .Lost weight , finished 3 trial marathons and what is more precious - simply have well life now Thank you for it from the dept of my heart .. PS at first when i saw on the book name Rich Roll my thoughts were come on - it sounded like a cartoon superhero name - well... it was not far from the truth - you are .
