What is automated testing? Beginner intro & automation demo
What is automated testing? How does test automation fit into application development? What are the usual types of automated testing and what are its powers and weaknesses? Follow me through this short beginner tutorial as I take you step by step through automated testing. Towards the end of the video you'll be challenged to learn your first automation tool. It can be used for testing, but works wonders as a productivity hack as well (it takes seconds to install and can handle any type of online repetitive work).

LinkedIn recommended to me a payed guide into Test Automation. I checked the free bits and pieces to see what it's about. After 10 minutes they just threw at me 20 different terminologies, names of types, methods, divisions but said nothing about what it actually is and why. Completely backwards and discouraging. This free 15 minute video is so much more valuable and doesn't waste my time.
I’m a visual learner and this is so valuable for my learning style. Pictures and stories make information more tangible for me. Thank you so much.
This was such a fantastic explanation and demo!!!! Thank you!!!
great video, short and understandable! thanks
Thank you so much! Great explanation !
Your video delivery is great. Simple animation but beautifully placing them in the video is an art you've done well.
Thank u!!! I've been watching other videos and they make it so confusing but you make it clear. Thank you for the clear explanation!
Great explination for someone who isn't a test automation expert. Thanks!
3 years later but i must say this is one of the best videos i have ever seen. Period. Good information, good narration and excelent use of graphic and visual elements to complement the information. It really helped me a lot. New subscriber here.
OMG your explanation style is so cute wtf thank bro. my brain is in peace
I just graduated and landed my first job as a software test engineer! I have to admit I didn't know anything about automated testing, but this video is makes it easier to understand what I'm getting into!
Thanks for the quality content!
Thanks a lot for giving such quality knowledge for free on youtube. You made my day. Thanks
Great primer on automated testing! Very helpful for the novice looking a conceptual understanding. Bravo!
Great video! Thanks.
It is the first time I deal with "automated tests". That was exactly what I needed! Thank you for the video. Wondering how recording tests will work with protected content websites, but I can test it myself :)
This is fantastic. I've started a new Job in IT & got very curious about Automation Testing this was exactly what i needed . ありがとう
This video is great! thank you
Thanks for breaking it down in an easy and light to digest. I'm quite nervous when my boss asked me today if I can replace our automation QA since he's going to resign, and my last experience with automation tools was few years ago. This video helped relieve my anxiety 😁
Great start, my friend! :)

Great video, thank you! Finding a good video on this topic was harder than I thought it would be, so your video saved me! Edit: the automated testing mini-project didn't work for me since I wasn't able to make it press enter even after attempting to debug it. But nevertheless, the point gets conveyed, so it's good.

Thanks! 👍 I added it to the list.
In my case following your example, the final test, "assert title" always runs before the page has rendered. If I tell it to play to that point and stop and then unpause the test it works. Is there something wrong with my configuration which causes the last step to execute before the page renders? This happens even on the slowest execution speed.
How to automate the fact that we want to know if for exemple we have get the good list of products after a click in a category for exemple ?
Good job.bro 👍!!!!

Hello Sir. Have you encountered any use case where AI ( e.g. genetic algorithm) was used in the testing case by testing engineers ? I'm looking in how to use genetic algorithm to provide a larger exploratory scenario during testing.

Hey George! Only through the use of AI-enabled automation tools. Nowadays, most test automation tools are aiming to be a part of the AI movement (e.g. applitools, TestCraft, functionize). But, for the time being, most of the AI-enabled functionality I've seen in such tools is around self-healing tests. So if the test can't find an element on a page because it has been changed, the tool attempts to map the old element to its changed version. A good tool will avoid false positives by notifying the Test Automation Engineer that the test was self-healed and allowing him to review the change. I wish you good luck with your idea! I think it has lots of potential.
