Difference is..a flashlight can prevent an encounter in the first place, deter an attacker, and also be used to HELP rather than hurt in other emergency situations.

@Matias Goinheix I use a flashlight regularly when I wake up each morning a 4am. It let's me go around the house doing what I need to do without waking anyone. Also, flashlights can be used to FIND things and people that are lost, not to mention helping others find you.

Another reason I love olight the warrior 3 and 3s tail switch can be set up with two different patterns. It’s either medium light or turbo in one setting or turbo and strobe on the other setting!!!

Every home defense gun needs to have a flashlight similar to these on them!

Are there any ways to flash to the new driver UI if I'm on the older version?

Mostly want them to be waterproof, rechargeable, and cost effective in that order.

Newer FC12 has tactical mode, where the tail switch is turbo only (double tap for strobe)

​@@came2fastOopsAfter having one for just around 3 months, I would actually recommend it since it is just about unbeatable for the price. I personally have the newer model with tactical mode, and haven't had any issues with the tail cap, battery, or charging. The beam angle is tight, and the hotspot is very bright which very easily disorients everyone I've tested it with for a good 10 seconds after the beam comes off (In broad daylight!). The only issue I've had is in the stepped mode, where switching modes really fast causes the tail cap to stop powering the light until you remove and re-insert the battery.

Just got the Klarus E3, double tailswitch, turbo and strobe. Very pleased!

Wurkkous FC12 activates strobe by half pressing tail cap twice. In any mode. Read the manual first next time.

Do you seriously think that with all the adrenaline pumping when youve got an attacker after you, that youll nail that half press often enough? The more things that can go wrong, the more likely something will go wrong. Press too hard and you dont get the turbo, which is VERY likely under stress

This is good video. Clear and simple information, I’m buying a dfl for a family member an almost ordered one that would have been useless in an emergency situation. Luckily I checked out afew youtube reviews first

That’s the one thing about some olights the little round button is hard to find. Light or dark I still search for the button.

Been loving my sofirn, tho the warrior mini 3 is so solid for being able to activate all those modes on that tail switch. Sofirn has been so solid for over a year now for more general tasks like fishing etc but yeah that tail switch is a must for defense

Nitecore p10i is the one to go. Always opens on turbo 1800lms only 3 levels another button for instant strobe

When your walking with a flashlight on. You might have an enemy on the radar away from your position . This is where cutting the light and stepping in the shadows will turn you invisible. Avoiding the up close confirmation

To shoot someone holding a flashlight, look next to them and aim intuitively (with muscle memory instead of using the sights) towards the light. This is especially easy with a strobe light. If you look next to a strobe, you can see what's behind the strobe by ignoring the light and focus on the shape between the flashes.

Tactical light must have shortcuts to low, turbo, strobe and one hand operation!

No one really seeks out strobe feature anymore over higher lumen output. I enjoy the stream light 1AA as your pick and my EDC. The HL 5X with higher capacity 18650’s for serious output in my vehicle.

Strobe is pretty effective for scaring away wildlife, stray dogs etc. Turbo does nothing to them. Strobe does

They're way higher quality than these. I switched over to surefire and those are bombproof.

Can you recommend a small tactical flashlight with those two features - around the size of a streamlight micro stream?

And it must have a long shelf life battery that could remain full without charging for months (if not years).

you absolutely can set it up on any mode you want, so technically it's fine. you need to just remember to go back to the top end when your done with it.

I just bought two Wurkkos FC12’s too, The purple and the Gray, after they arrived I found out that they are both different, the purple is running the old software and doesn’t have the tactical mode, the gray one however is the new version and has the tactical mode that can access turbo / strobe from the on/off switch, The new gray version is massively improved with just the software update

Which flashlight did he flash first?

My Surefire Flashlight is a real tactical light you wont fumble with it under stress as it only has 1 mode & it's built for using with a firearm. It doesn't make a click sound but u can keep it always on if u twist the rear far enough. Surefire makes real Tactical Flashlights. It's designed for when you are under stress.

No, that's not a req..if your that close it defeats the whole damn purpose. Even an edge with no crenulatuons will do plenty of damage, and that won't get taken away at checkpoints.

Well said. It's completely pointless to have a tail switch that doesn't act independently of current set and mode you're in. It's gross to think you could wind up paying a hundred bucks for a decent flashlight but your have to "figure it out" like and old apartment with dual bedroom switches with one wired backwards.

So would offensive flashlights be the big heavy ones you could use as a club?

Keep in mind. Your eyes are fully adjusted to the night. You will absolutely lose your vision for 20+ seconds if not more. Now I have time to do what I want with you. 5 seconds I’ll have rushed your position to disembowel u with my kabar. 2 seconds after ID, I’ve already shot u. The point is… the situation just got worse for you as you’ve lost your vision. The whole, “higher ground gains the better tactical advantage” is the same as a person temporarily losing their vision.

imo, the bezel is last resort...if your using a flashlight as a contact tool your already in big trouble. A flashlight is best when it can help you create or maintain distance.

Add on top of that a switchback cause when you'll start hammerstriking you need that light to not slip off your hand in the first blow

Amutorch xt35 is what i would suggest, better performance than TN12pro, A switchback attached from the factory, attack bezel, simple ui and with the switchback attached (index finger plastic ring) you can definitely use this flashlight for melee hammering attacks without worrying it will fly off your hand on the first strike

Your not gonna wanna rely on a flashlight for selfdefense period

The sofirn sc31t is absolutely perfect because the tail cap does NOT activate turbo and you have to actually search for strobe effect. One of the better flashlights imo, because In a self defense scenario a flashlight is one of the last things I would be grabbing.

U use the light to create distance and give yourself time, also the light can get grabbed BEFORE you known its life threatening..where pulling out a firearm is escalation and won't protect you from the law if you move first.

It's not about relying on a flashlight in a life or death scenario. It's about being prepared for ANY scenario. You never know which one will surface and you stand a better chance with a solid flashlight than you would without it

Bro the light is bright enough to temporarily take a persons vision away. Like 20+ seconds. At night. That’s a pretty big tactical advantage if not to evade an attacker
