While PCMC and Nagpur are two of most well planned and improved cities and am proud, Shravan has had his intelligence, efforts and commitment to make it happen, yet fundamental questions as citizen bother me are : 1) What was Govt of India's plan to make cities smart when conceptualized in 2015? 2) Where it stands after 7 years (and counting). How ROI is measured on said program? 3) If said project/program didnt exist, would that have made difference wrt outcome today? 4) On express way (like Mumbai Pune) or even Pune Solapur highway, the same traffic appears disciplined than how it was in and around city. 5) Fundamentally people are sensible, Indians definitely so, as also noticed by Swedes too, yet are they not pushed in mode of a cornered cat? 6) Many of Pune roads got repaired, beautified, traffic streamlined, when G20 was on, or example close to ITians mind, Pashan - Sus - Nande Chande road got repaired miraculously in 3 nights what 3 years and 1000s of complaints couldn't achieve when honorable President was to visit Symbiosis institute as Lavale village and had to take said road.. 7) So is it not a question of Accountability by governing bodies and at the same time voters too who are in mode of seeing democracy as a spectator's sport that their involvement is just to vote once in 5 years that too based on caste, creed than real quality of life? 8) Airports, Railway stations (few if not all) have improved, so what is stopping to improve livable index of cities quickly especially when focus was on 100 odd cities at a time? 9) Take another example, PMC hiked property tax by 40% and applied backdated from 2018 (can be soft worded as, discount from Panshet tragedy got discontinued after 5 decades) yet does new tax justify quality of life compared to on par cities with now lower tax bracket? (Thane/ Nagpur). Why on this topic wording of commissioner and statements of political parties vs whats conveyed to department doesnt match? 10) Completely understand, for a huge country like India, with so many cultural nuances, any change is not easy and few might not even be practically possible to roll out. However with ignorance of political and civil/administrative services understanding, to simple mind of a tax paying citizen, seems system built and being practiced is letting lack of accountability survive and only individual heroics make exceptional improvement (e.g. T N Seshan as CEC, Kiran Bedi as IPS, or in politics, Nitin Gadkari for NHAI, S Jaishankar as MEA) but not as a sustained systemic mechanism thats needed to keep up pace for developed India by 2047, which is a real concern!

Very nice sir, it is 100% correct. Technology, infrastructure will come but it will not make the city smart, it is true that for a city to be smart, people need to be smart or make people smart. 👌👌
