So, why would I use a SCADAPack instead of just using a PLC? It seems that a SCADAPack is more limited in regard to the I/O configuration. I have training on this today, and hopefully that will be addressed lol

A SCADAPack can do everything a PLC can do & more. For example in a situation with intermittent/slow communications, a radio link perhaps a SCADAPack shines. Using a telemetry protocol, you can natively backfill data as it's being buffered on the RTU.

@@JeroenAlewijnse SCADAPack is just a Schneider PLC. It is programmed in ladder, function block or C like any other PLC.

@@jordangourley3955 It’s not a PLC. An RTU has fundamental differences with the PLC. RTU’s are pretty niche and often confused with PLCs

@@JeroenAlewijnsenot to argue, but to quote the video “SCADAPACKs are a type of PLC, more commonly referred to as an RTU” I install SCADAPACKs and all other brands of RTU for a living. I also network them with serial radio modems and cellular modems. It’s a PLC. There is nothing I can do with a Schneider that I can’t do with an AB SLC or an automation direct directlogix plc. As a matter of fact I experience more failed scadapacks than any other brand of RTU, which makes them my least favorite, but at least they get me lots of service work.

The software is terrible when compared to AB’s RSLogix. So little is streamlined it’s remarkable.
