yeah you're right, the Philippines is great for call centres because their English is very good, the accent is easy to understand (American influenced), and they are naturally very friendly and hospitable people (that's also why they're very popular as nurses in the UK, due to their genuine caring attitude)

My previous co. laid off all the designers and outsourced them to remote workers. You know what, they postpone the projects for 3 months. Yes, you are saving up for a lower-cost workforce, but something else is paying the price. A Sales rep. role in that company, the Sales rep. has both revenue and non-revenue clients, so the co. let go of the sales, and outsource that "non-revenue" part to remote workers, but the truth is the Sales rep. brought in enough revenue to cover up his own salary costs and at the same time, take care of all the non-revenue clients. So that means outsourcing that Sales rep's job actually costs more. Outsourcing is not always a fancy story.

Do I create my own company and offer my service to the company I work for? Do I pitch the idea to my higherups and have them sort out all the logistics? The idea just has to do with outsourcing certain company functions (hiring people in a specific foreign country to carry out one specific task).

Make sure the outsourced subcontractor can speak english like a native speaker...nothin' worse than trying to communicate with a heavily accented person in some call centre 'after business hours' ... BPO is great if you don't want your businesses intellectual capital retained within your own company and your stifle your base of expertise, its maturity and growth... and all you're outsourcing is peripheral to the core of your business... provided of course the Outsource Org can underwrite your business data integrity and security and other essential sensitive information or extrapolations... did I mention political stability of the country of your chosen far off BPO resident ? .. sounds like a great model...

India is market known for its cheap labour. The Indians are work horses ready to work at any time and under any circumstances. They just need a freakin job that pays them some amount. They are insecure about their lives don't have any bigger aspirations so they take up any job they get, so smart entrepreneurs capitalize this opportunity and make use of them. You just need pay them some around 200$ to 250$ per month. Its that cheap to get your work done in no time.

I don't see any indians that we hire for that amount. You might be scrapping the bottom of the barrel.
