@@_got_sound_6406 Says who? Bob Rock stated that it was most certainly riffed out and originally a demo that they recorded after AJFA as a legitimate original to be used on their upcoming 5th album, except they recorded the demo tuned in E-standard. When going through the material in pre-production, Rock suggested that they tune down to D to make the song heavier. Even if there was an idea that carried over from any previous album, the Black Album songs were so worked-over in production that none of them has any semblance of any previous material prior to 1990/91.

As funny as it seems, I think that’d be badass af. James’ voice on the demos of Mechanix/mechanics was...special, and Dave’s nasally voice is unique and works for most of Deth but doesn’t do the power of the riffs of the song justice imo. If we could get James’ gritty Kill em All voice with the tempo and feel of Mechanix as recorded by Megadeth that’d be awesome.

These reworks can be phenomenal tools for anyone learning compositional theory or trying to branch out in the use of motifs and themes. They’re pretty genius, really. To pick up on the very subtle nuances in timbre, timing, tone, accenting, etc. is at invaluable skill and can open infinite doors to creativity when found in a rut. Cheers.

That Harvester of Sorrow verse lick used in the chorus is subtle but so effective (2:16) I love how you work certain tendencies from the selected album into each song. Really makes them pop rather than simply adjusting the tone.

@@leerobbo92 I've never heard of a version with solos, but it would be interesting to hear. St Anger 2015 is the only complete ground up reconstruction of the entire album I've heard so far, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I downloaded the whole thing a few years ago, then I imported it into a ringtone maker (I think it was Ringdroid) to split the album into individual tracks. It WAS Ringdroid... I remember now because Ringdroid has a wave visualizer, which made it possible to see where the end of a track was supposed to be by zooming in, then zooming in even further on the indicator.

If The Day Never Comes was on AJFA. Personally wanna hear this because it’s structure is a lot similar to how One is. Clean intro into distorted chorus, do it twice, then Lars gets his little “moment” before the last verse of the song till it goes out with banging instrumental kickass solos
