This scenario would also mean Finland reversing the territorial losses of the end of the Winter War (1940), the end of the Continuation War (1944) and the final Paris peace treaty (1947), regaining the borders of the peace of Tartu (1920), but only gaining small amounts of new population and GDP. I guess that's... Acceptable? For Finland, I mean. But for the Russians? Not a big loss, but a slap to the face anyway. Politico-militarily, however, the effects would actually have a major impact: the islands in the Gulf of Finland would thus become NATO territory, and Russia would lose its Alakurtti airbase in the North as well as the port of Petsamo (which would allow Finland to conduct trade and post naval units to the Arctic waters near Murmansk).

Great vid! One note about the British Empire's GDP; while it is "only" 15.1 trillion, its important to note how economies in places like India and Bangladesh are booming in our timeline, and imo with increased help from the mainland and other colonies, that economic growth is going to be even more rapid in this timeline. So while the GDP would be at 15.1 trillion "now", it would be the fastest growing economy since China's economic miracle a few decades ago, maybe even moreso than that, and would likely overtake the US economy in 15 or 20 years.

He was offered the throne. In 1870 after the Hohenzollern prince refused the throne following the pressure from the king of Prussia Wilhelm I at the time, the Spanish offered the throne to prince Amadeo the Duke of Aosta. He accepted and became the king of Spain. Re reigned from 1870 to 1873. He abdicated the throne in 1873 because of political infighting and instability. He famously said that Spain was a country that couldn't be governed. After his abdication, Spain became a republic for a year ( the first republic 1873-1874, not to be confused with the more famous second republic 1932-1936). After that they invited the Bourbons back on the throne.

If we made the imperial federation pretty soon (and by that I mean immediately) it would be the indian empire, with the Indian population easily overpowering every other population in the empire through numbers alone. If migration and voting rights were allowed to india, it would be like South Africa today with one ethnic group dominating everything and only electing their parties.

Heres an alternate history aspect that never gets talked about. What of the Ottomans remained neutral in WW1, for example the ships they ordered and pay for by the British get delivered, would the Sultan be less inclined to join the Central Powers?

The issue with 20th century maps is USA still has so much weight due to their massive weapons industry and soft power than at no point do you have a real contender, they'd still decide everything. You should try something like 1815 (the end of the napoleonic conflicts), or 1803 (right before them). So at least you have a smaller USA, Or 1559 (the end of the italian wars), if you want a REALLY small USA and a Spain that hasn't yet eaten most of america. Or hell you could try to get further back before the fall of the aztecs so you have no USA and small spain still. (since BEEG SPAIN is likely to be the factor that makes maps boring on that period... then again sheer instability is bound to make them useless as world police. Or hell you could just give the viceroyalties independence for the sake of having fun.)
