He say that "we all remember the Alamo"; but, he leaves out the fact that we *also* remember San Jacinto! It *still* holds the world record for most lopsided victory of an outnumbered force over a larger one! It was the battle that actually won the Texas Revolution!

To be fair if like 80-90% of the population in any state genuinely wanted to be independent from the U.S.A. I don't know if there's anything the U.S.A could do to enforce it's ban on secession without violently occupying the place. Which would not exactly be democratic or popular amongst that state's residences. I feel like if THAT many of the people wanted to secede then the feds might have no choice but to do the democratic thing and let them do so.

Currency isn't an issue with Texas Honestly. It had what was known as the Texas redback dollar when it was its own independent country. It could be renamed but most likely that style of dollar or even the entire makeup could be reused or reissued. Born and raised and still live in Texas personally and I had a great uncle (he died when I was 6 and was 101 at the time of his death he also the last of his generation in the family) had actual real Texas dollars from that time in his possession too. He got them from his grandfather before he passed as a kid and when he passed his kids got them. Where they are now don't know but they were cool looking.

Quick correction, Texas did not become fight for independence because of Mexico outlawing slavery, but because Santa Ana declared himself as the dictator and “Napoleon of the West”, making immigration from the United States illegal, and tearing up the Mexican constitution that was signed in 1824, hence the reason that the flag flown over the Alamo had “1824” on it.

Overall, the idea of Texas becoming independent again is nice and all; but, the factors (mentioned in the video and many others) effectively killed the current interpretation of the idea. However, I could easily see the resurrection of the Republic as a EU esque union - that's consisting of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, and Tamaulipas - that exists in both the US and Mexico. Mainly, it would be there to centralize the region's infrastructure and economy, and also keep the legislative and executive portions of both aforementioned nations' governments in check. In layman terms, a large powerful pseudo-nation within two nations. Plus, this might what the Republic's EU esque allies might look like (mostly US-centric ones): West Coast Region: The Republic of California & The Cascadian Federation Eastern-Mississippi Region: The United Great Lake & The Unified Civil Border State Of America Also, here is the enemies of the Republic and it's allies - well the US centric ones: The Confederacy of America (basically the South and in particular South Carolina) & The Neo New England Alliance (in particularly Massachusetts). So yeah, that's my brief* take on it. Besides that, Infographic forgot to mention the Mexican Federalist War, the old republic government's (especially Sam Houston's) views on the south, and the purple/swing-ness of Texas in the video/analysis. And one more thing, the resurrected Republic would be called The Greater Republic Of Texas. Edit: Added the words: brief and Of America

An alliance with Texas would offer access deep into the heartland of the U.S. as well as up and over to Louisiana. Do you believe Texas would not drill in the Gulf? And that's with Texas being the number 1 oil producer by a massive margin. Farming would take a large upturn with irrigation coming from the major river systems running through Texas. That doesn't take into account the newly discovered 3000 square miles 1000 foot thick Maverick Basin Aquifer. Texas produces more than twice as much beef as the next 2 producers combined. Texas is number 6 in poultry production, almost 4 billion pounds annually. Texas has more farms than any other state; almost as many as the next 3 states combined. Those who enter legally are great, we have a wonderful relationship with Mexicans, they are hard working, incredibly kind and have a wonderful culture that Texas is a part of. Not when very Democratic California will become the sole powerhouse state in the US and the Democrats will be making a killing at the federal government with Texas' 38 college votes evaporating. California secession only floated because of the dominance of the Republican Party. With the GOP practically dead at the federal level (because of Texas' departure), California will likely try to make the most out of the situation. Florida (GDP: 1 trillion) may also want to follow Texas once the GOP loses federal power. Still not that much of a loss, maybe even advantageous to the US as they no longer have to worry about a state regularly hit by hurricanes and is about to be sunk underwater by global warming.

Well... If you took the federal government out of the equation in Minnesota's jurisdiction, our state would have already broke ground on a mine that has 1.16 billion lbs of copper, 170 million lbs of nickel, 6.2 million lbs of cobalt, 1.56 million oz of palladium/platinum/gold. Vastly increasing the supply and lowering the price of crucial metals required for "green" technology.

I hope Texas never becomes a democracy (mob rule) and sticks with the checks and balances of a republic. The biggest problem many Texans have with the American Federal government is that it has slowly over time abandoned more and more of its constitutional republic origins that enticed Texans to join in the first place. In fact the Republic of Texas originally joined with the agreement that should the U.S. Federal government violate its constitutional limitation Texas had the right to secede.

First of all, an Independent Texas would almost certainly start out with a MASSIVE debt, as the US would not let Texas leave without taking its portion of the national debt. With 8.9% of the US population, they'd likely have to take around $2.073T of the US debt with them. Then, since the US military would take all of the equipment on the 14 military bases, any new Texas military would have to buy new weapons, vehicles, supplies, ammunition, etc. driving that debt up further. At the same time, they would also take all the soldiers, sailors, airmen and their families, so the towns nearby those bases would experience a major decline as their customer bases disappear (not to mention the drying up of the tax bases for the local towns and schools). And, while the Johnson Space Center would stay, there's no way on Earth that NASA would leave any of the equipment, so Texas would have to start that over from scratch, as well, if they wanted anything but empty buildings. And, since Texas is only slightly Red (the 2020 Presidential election was ~52% - 47% in favor of the GOP), a sizable portion of the populace would likely prefer to stay with the USA. So, you'd either have a major population loss as nearly half the population of the State leaves (yes, you'd probably see some influx of Americans from other States looking to emigrate to an Independent Texas, but not nearly enough to offset those leaving), or you'd have to somehow carve the State in half. Given the massive debt and shrunken tax base of all the above, how long do you think Texas would be able to retain it's low tax rates that have drawn businesses? And, would those businesses even want to stay, given the likely brain drain of the populace, and without the might of the US Government/military to protect them there?

Plus, who would be sympathetic to Texas internationally? Not Mexico, or any NATO country. China? I don't think so. Maybe Russia, but they aren't very strong right now. Also, Texas has the biggest homeowner taxes in the nation, by far. Sometimes the taxes are more than mortgage. So, "low taxes" is misleading.
