This is exactly why I believe Dragon chose not to raise Luffy, to give him freedom of choice. Dragon decided that everyone deserves to be free, that includes his son. If he stayed, Luffy would be dedicated to his father’s mission. Think Sabo but with no real choice in this matter . So to ensure his son has a choice, he left him in Fusha.

I think Franky would definitely be one of the best players in the revolutionary army. He would be a more active Vegapunk and supply the revolutionaries with top of the line weapons with his knowledge, along with his knowledge of pluton prior to burning it, if he even burned it. Due to their strength and how Enies Lobby went in this timeline Franky would still have the blueprints and could give it to the revolutionaries.

I actually think this what if scenario would be much better if dragon taking Luffy with him didn’t happen until dragon found and took in Sabo, you could say one of the reasons he came back to Dawn island was to retrieve Luffy after speaking to his father Garp. This allows for Luffy Ace and Sabo to have their established brotherhood, as well as more interactions between Luffy Ace and Garp which when added to this what if makes for a better narrative. I wouldn’t say better than the actual manga but still a very interesting what if. Although I don’t see dragon coming for Luffy at all since he wanted Luffy to have the freedom to chose his own path. I’ve always found it strange that he’d take sabo in and not raise his own son.

The reason why Dragon did not raise Luffy as his son, in my opinion, is because he did not know of Luffy's whereabouts as a kid. Keep in mind, Garp brought Ace to the mountain bandits to ensure he is raised in confidentiality, hidden from the Marines - which was very successful. There's no reason to believe he didn't bring Luffy to Dadan for the same reason, to hide him from Dragon so he doesn't go down the same path as his father. Dragon didn't have any problem taking in Kid Sabo and raising him as a revolutionary, and I see no reason why he should have any problems doing the same with Luffy. And by the time Luffy had set sail and started making a name for himself, Dragon did come to save him in Loguetown. But he must've decided it's better to see where Luffy goes with his self-chosen journey, and didn't recruit him at that point.

i don't think dragon doesn't know where Luffy is, Garp originally just had Luffy in the the little seaside village and the reason that Dragon knew that there would be an incident was because he was always paying attention to this island. i think Garp took Luffy to Dadan because he realized that Luffy had just eaten the GumGum fruit and the world government might find out and come after him since they have been trying to get that fruit for 800 years. It is entirely true that as far as dads good, Dragon isn't a good one to Luffy, but he might still be doing what he truly belives is best for Luffy. Luffy raised by Dragon would have his freedom greatly restricted because he is the best hostage to use against Dragon the reason he took Sabo and allowed him to come along was because when he met Sabo the first time he was basically trying to run away in despair of these nobles whose actions are directly endangering the lives of his brothers and then I'm pretty sure he saw Sabo's second escape attempt where he was literally shot down by a celestial dragon and then when Sabo woke up he literally begged to be taken anywhere but back to his parents.

I haven’t finished the idea but each idea I’ve seen you give has been heat!!! I’m curious on a what if Luffy was the best Gunslinger. Meaning both sniping pistol user. I’d think it’d be even cooler if he smithed his own sea stone bullets and other cool traps.

What if JoyBoys one piece treasure is his “plan/blueprint to liberate the world”. Which he tells through a funny story, it tells of everything needed people, objects such as ancient weapons. To make them (Roger and crew) laugh when they found out not only that it was a journey, but that they’d already travelled the entire journey needed to complete the “plan/blueprint” but were missing certain things such as Luffy/DF-Leader, Shirohoshi-Ancient weapon etc and also there timing . Now finding out that they were too ahead of time for such “plan”(PARTY) to be carried out Roger and crew chose to inspire and help/guide the future (Luffy and Crew and Fleet) to finish and carry out THE ONE PIECE

Ace would probably be a much meaner person without swearing to uphold Sabo's "last request" and learning to be a polite big brother on Luffy's behalf. Even if he did learn that Sabo were alive later, he's got a complicated abandonment complex already that won't get any better if they remain separated. He also wouldn't show up on Alabasta. The only reason he went there was to look for his kid brother Luffy, whom he was worried about, and hand over his vivre card. I think my takeaway here is that all the good moments Luffy has in canon would just be deflated and ruined by this scenario, lol. Though I doubt a more "mature and world weary" luffy could have the same story to begin with.

I think the best situation for the strawhats in this story is they will become a ally or something, like a fleet of revolutionary army, and would still go on to their adventure, while sending information to the revolutionaries. Kuma will just send all of the strawhats in the revolutionary base, and after marineford war, luffy would decide that his crew needs more training, therefore, they will stay in the revolutionary care for 2 years before continuing their journey again.

Honestly as we’re talking about this I’m remembering just how young Sabo was when he essentially became indoctrinated with revolutionary ideology by Dragon and the Revs. It’s likely that Dragon raised Sabo as his pseudo father to be the revolutionary that might surpass him in notoriety and I want to see how this impacted their relationship. That’s an incredibly large burden for such a young child to carry and I’m curious if we’ll see it strain their relationship at all in future interactions. Or maybe I’m overthinking it

W storyline, Also Make another part on this, Also I feel like sabo would join luffy originally bc of sabos reaction to marine ford, He would still gain that bond with luffy cuz they’re childhood friends / brothers after being revolutionaries he’d be too heart broken to let him go alone.

@@lorddarkrai5753 honestly I agree with you, garp is honourable person, that's why my theory was he killed Dadans kids in line of duty, as for the other pirates honestly that's a good point, but the crucial thing is "how ineffective the marines are in the face of the celestials, I am pretty sure garp had to see pretty sick things by them and had to stomach them, he refused admiral because of them, I think this stems from god valley. But kudos to your points :)

I was thinking that too. In my own comment I brought up that jimbei wouldn't be around for whole cake since I see no reason in this version that the germa/big mom wedding wouldn't still try to happen. Now if luffy went to impel to save ace with sabo and just end up freeing jimbei, buggy, mr.3, ivankov, crocodile, and to an extent mr.2 then the rest would play out semi normal. BB may end up dying/running away, but still a chance he'd get what he wants. But still jimbei is integral to Fishman island due to him joining luffy after breaking taboo by giving luffy blood. After which he plays a significant roll in whole cake by freeing nami/luffy, then his sun pirates cover luffy's escape, then joins them in wano and fights Who's-Who.

Now that sabo's memories are back dragon probably knows luffy's real dream

If Ace is saved, and goes with Luffy to Wano a few interactions might play out differently too
