The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

I think he mentioned that the Warp in the West can't occur in this scenario, but he didn't go into much detail. Chances are the main thing that would happen is that the Illiac bay remains fractured and as a result there are are a lot fewer City Orc characters in Oblivion and Skyrim. And probably Black soul gems are harder to come by. And maybe the Illiac bay gets stomped on by the Daedra lol If every thing happened just like normal except the assassination fails? Probably things would push on. I mean, Mehrunes Dagon probably won't stop trying, having done so one or two times before, but the Empire would be more prepared by then. No Thalmor, because the Thalmor only had an opening because of the Oblivon Crisis (from the in-game Skyrim book "the rising threat"). I suppose the red year still occurs, but you don't have superpowered Argonians fresh from Dremora killing, and the Empire would probably step in to stop the Argonians once they got too far past Morrowind's border even if they did invade. If Jagar Tharn continued to rule, he would do so until Uriel died and Jagar Tharn kills his sons if any of them are born by then. The Oblivion happens. I am reasonably sure Martin isn't born until after Area, so Tamriel is probably screwed XD "What if the Kamal invasion of Tamriel had not been stopped?" Insert Mr. Freeze quotes here.

"When the thrice-blessed fail and the Red Tower trembles" -from the Dragonborn prophecy Without the fulfillment of the Nereverine prophecy, the Dragonborn prophecy never comes to fruition, so Alduin and the Dragon Crisis never happen in Skyrim. But (and I'm going on quite the tangent here) Alduin _has_ to emerge somewhere; _tiid bo amativ,_ "time flows ever onward." But Alduin _can't_ return, which means the only way for this timeline to work out properly and paradox-free is if the ancient nords _won_ the Dragon War and defeated Alduin properly. Granted, history says the nords did win, so not much would change, but it's still interesting that Dagoth Ur sleeping in affects the timeline in both directions.

Prophecies in the Elder Scrolls are not mere predictions, they are a series of events leading up to one major event. That's the entire reason why the Emperor uses the Moth Priests to read the Scrolls; so he can learn Prophecies and influence the future. What if the Oblivion Crisis and Alduin's return happened at the same time and Martin traveled to Skyrim and defeated Alduin while the Champion of Cyrodiil took care of the Daedra in Cyrodiil? (instead of sitting at Cloudruler temple, the only thing he did there was figure out the portal to paradise which really Jauffre or Baurus could've figured out eventually) Assuming Martin would make it back to Cyrodiil in time to relight the Dragon Fires.. would him being as powerful as the Last Dragonborn change the battle at the temple of the one with Mehrunes Dagon? Would Martin even have to break the Amulet of Kings to defeat him? How would the timeline change if the Empire continued to be ruled by not only a Septim.. but a Septim capable of shouting entire armies to pieces?

I mostly agree with this (i've always loved alternate scenarios). To me, IMO without imperial influence in Summerset inspiring a sense of revanchism and a specific desire to definitively prove mer over man after hundreds of years of exactly the opposite, the Thalmor would more likely follow a path somewhat like Morrowind, but much more like in IRL Japan (well, also with the preexisting nazi-like focus on racial superiority) during its Sakoku-law period where it had utterly closed maritime borders, with absolutely NO entering or exiting save for a single port of trade from a single approved entity. Under this much less Padomaic and aggressive (as they never had the impetus to take the fight BACK to the imperials) and much more xenophobic and Anuic mindset, Summerset; or rather Alinor now; would have any non-Altmer expelled (mainly elves) or exterminated (mainly non-elves), trade and outside contact limited to the absolute bare essentials, and an extremely strict level of isolationism on par with Pyandonea, to the point where Alinor would join Tamriel-adjacent islands like Pyandonea, Yokuda, and Roscrea in being outside the common interpretation of what is considered to be the de jure continent of Tamriel despite their geographic proximity and (in the case of yokuda and alinor) racial (redguards and altmer) and cultural (noted warriors and foremost mages) presence.

I think that the Tribunal would aid the empire during the Oblivion crisis, because, even if they would be content to sit by and just defend themselves, someone like Vivec or Sotha Sil would realise that the Daedra need to be stopped, otherwise the hordes plus Dagon would be able to overpower Morrowind even with the Tribunal there, and thus, possibly stopping the Oblivion crisis without the need for Martin to sacrifice himself.

I think you're wrong about the Oblivion Crisis in this alternate timeline. Sotha Sil is still alive and well so he would still be enforcing the Coldharbour Compact. Mehrunes Dagon may still attempt to increase his influence on Nirn but he wouldn't be able to invade. He would also have no reason to help end the Septim Dynasty. we already know from the Interregnum of the second era that Sotha Sil is perfectly capable of guarding Nirn while Akatosh's protection is disrupted. it would need an event like the Soulburst during Akatosh's absence to allow him to attack in spite of the compact. this also means that the Crystal Tower remains intact and so does White Gold and the Empire, which also means that Alduin wouldn't return yet either.

This was fun, I hope you do more of these in the future. I personally would like to see the your thoughts on how the Cannon might change if the Nerevarine didn't die at the hands of Almsavi in da way back :). (Opinion in dissent: do not take seriously) How does Summerset come through the Oblivion Crisis so well? The Isles would be heavily isolated when excluded from the Empire and with Valenwood seceded. Assuming that the Isles suffered the same amount of damage from the Crisis that it did in the cannon, the Altmer would be stuck recovering on their own. I would think that being left out of the Empire's larger economy after the Crisis would make recovering from it take longer at the least. Furthermore, I would expect the. Altmer economy to be in worse condition after the secession of Valenwood. A completely isolated Summerset Isles would be more vulnerable to piracy and the like. I would expect the Empire to act kind of like the real world British empire; the Empire could try to sabotage the Dominion by recognizing privateers. Basically, pirates that restrict themselves to Altmer ships are safe from any retaliation from the Empire, and free to enter Empire ports to sell their haul. If the Empire were to provide sanctuary to privateers and pirates that refrain from harassing its own for an extended period of time, then the Altmer would be in a significantly worse economic position before the Crisis. This would be compounded by Empire dominance in the region. With every port on the Eastern and Southeastern coasts of Tamriel under empire control, and the only other possible independent trading partners being way off in Morrowind or Akavir, the Altmer would have extremely few options available to them. The Empire would be free to tarriff the F out of the Altmer, thus expanding their own revenues while harming the Dominion. The Isles would be forced into a more self sufficient economic model with far more limited resources and a distinctly isolationist foreign policy. The assets available to the Altmer for military purposes would be significantly reduced. The inability to economically import metal from the Empire would be particularly damaging for Dominion military interests. As a result, the Altmer probably would not come through the Crisis as well as they did. The fall of the Crystal Tower would likely be accompanied by the loss of a city or two due to the weakend military position and lack of allied states. Such a loss would be far more devastating for the small and isolated nation, thus extending it's recovery and making it more difficult. The probable isolationism would further hurt the Isles. From what I understand, the Altmer population is very slow growing. Any losses in population would be felt for far longer, and without trading partners shortages could occur. The Altmer still need to eat, they still need skilled workers to make their boats, plows, and repair buildings. With their population long to recover, the loss of skilled workers along with the difficulty in replacing them, low population growth, and difficuty importing, shortages in multiple goods and services seem likely. I also wouldn't be surprised if such a situation led the Altmer to begin practicing slavery to compensate. This could lead to instability in Summerset, and weaken the Thalmor regime. Just because the Thalmor enjoyed millenia of unbroken rule doesn't mean they are invincible, or even better off. Decades or centuries of reduced economic growth and activity before the Crisis, and difficulties in recovering from it, could create a revolutionary environment. The general trajectory of the Dominion before the Crisis appears to be negative. The loss of Valenwood and Elswere followed be extended isolation that preceded a major invasion more closely resembles the decline of real world dynasties like the Han and the Old Kingdom of Egypt. The fall of the Western Roman Empire was preceded be extended losses in territory, followed by major disasters. The Oblivion Crisis looks more like the Sack of Rome in the fifth century to me that the beginning of a grand resurgence. I (personally) would expect the Thalmor to be concerned with internal strife and reconstruction for decades (if not centuries due to elven longevity and population growth patterns). I just can't see the Altmer being willing to risk their human capital post Oblivion, nevermind successfully occupying two other provinces for an extended period. In addition, exclusion from the Empire would leave the Isles more vulnerable to the Maomer (I can't remember when the Psijic cut them off and whether or not they could come back) and the Sload (who are still around as far as I know). If the Sload came out of the Crisis mostly intact because Thras is still submerged (and they still exist) and weakend and isolated Summerset Isles would never more vulnerable. The tiger people have also expressed in interest in Tamriel and came through fairly well from what I remember. Would they pull a Columbus and sail from Tang Mo ports the establish beachheads in Summerset that they might later stage an invasion from? I would expect other powers to look at Summerset like vultures do a carcass. In summary, I can't see the Altmer being able (or willing) to start a war with the Empire. In the cannon they had a lot more support in their recovery before they seceded, as well as military support during the Crisis itself. The extended reign of the Thalmor to me recalls the final moments of real world regimes. When real world dynasties and regimes have had very extended periods of uninterrupted rule, the generally haven't been able to constantly consolidate their power for most of that period. They start out strong, enter periods where they succeeded in maintaining their power, and followed them with slow decline before sudden flashbulb moments mark either revolution or collapse. When I look at this scenario and the impact of the Oblivion Crisis on the Altmer it evokes in me images of the Germanic tribes sacking Rome, Crusaders sacking Byzantium, and the Central Powers devastating Russian forces in WWI. Those events demarcated the final decline of Rome, the Byzantines, and the Romonov Dynasty respectively, not the low point before a sudden golden age of expansion.
