I think a peace event fired with Italy capitulating due to the fact that in a realistic sense, with Russia gone and now Italy gone, you have one gargantuan front on the German border to defend with uk, France, and america, but now you have this mountainous front in the Alpes plus massive areas of the Mediterranean to contest now that Italy has fallen. The fact the ottomans are still around makes the situation untenable.

  • @williamcrawford7621

Plus Greece, Serbia, Montenegro, and Romania all fell too. So basically, the central powers have already defeated 5 countries, two of which were majors, while the Entente has failed to capitulate a single country. The writing was already on the wall. Dragging it out would only have cost more lives, just like how Germany surrendered without having to be invaded or the Entente having to march all the way to Berlin

As grindy as this was... it was still an unrealistic amount of maneuver warfare for WW1 era tech. Granted the Eastern Front always was more dynamic. ...Should probably watch through the video before commenting, but I'm irrationally annoyed by seeing the game describe Austria-Hungary as an "Authoritarian Regime", and was already in a shaky mood, so I feel the need to rant. The empire (and the German Empire too, tbh) was way more decentralised than modern countries. (And what meaning does "authoritarian" have beyond a buzz-word if it doesn't mean "centralised"?) To give an example from both empires; In WW1, Ludwig III of Bavaria hoped that Bavarian victories in the war would give him leverage in an eventual peace deal to keep Bavaria powerful enough to rival Prussia, to keep Germany from becoming too centralised around Prussia. Even in America, one of the most decentralised western countries (due to the federal system), it'd seem pretty ridiculous for any of the states to have enough power to rival the national government. And in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Emperor had little enough authority in Hungary that the Hungarians only had to pay taxes to their nobles, who in turn were tax-exempt. Imagine if modern countries just didn't tax ~40% of the population...

Worldwar one was all about artillery and trenches: Only in the west, where Germany and France had a faceoff. In the east it was verry much mobile maneuver warfare.
