Regarding the Japanese symbols, you could probably reach out to Gaijin Goombah; he's a bit of an authority on Japanese Culture, History, and mythology on KZread. Also, Gaijin Goombah confirmed in a response to one of my comments on his video a while back that he is not really all that familiar with Digimon, which is a real shame when you think about it. So, maybe you could offer to help ease him into the franchise, maybe with some kind of collab, him taking care of the Japanese culture and history, and you brining in your understanding of the franchise.

Renamon's symbols are "Mitama" that essentially represent the spirits of the dead/shrine gods in Shinto myth and since Renamon is basically just a Kitsune that goes though the process of growing it's tails and eventually gains a human form... Also Miko-mode is literally just a Shrine Maiden soooo

Well, the symbol is related to Mitama, but Mitama are the objects, and they're usually singular. The symbol is the "tomoe", which usually does appear in a 3- or, like in this case, 2-comma pattern.

I think Lovelyangemon works perfectly for Suzi. Sure, Antilamon uses axes, but for her I think the more cheerleader and punchy vibes fits Suzi's energy more. And then Cherubimon is a powerful and cute rabbit that matches with her for a warp.

Renamon’s symbols are Tomoe. Specifically a two-fold tomoe, Futatsudomoe. Generally, they are associated with archers since the Kofun period in Japan. It has then been attributed to Hachiman, the god of war and archery. Though those would be the Mitsudomoe, the threefold tomoe. Tomoe is also a personal name, generally attributed to the famous female warrior Tomoe Gozen, who is paraded as a symbol of feminine gallantry.

The symbols on Renamon are tomoe, specifically futatsudomoe. It is often associated with duality like yin and yang, but is a more Japanese take on similar designs used in other east Asian countries.

I bet the original plan for the -jinmon was not to be tamers megas, but to be opponents to the tamers megas, acting as total foils. The opponent for fire based Guilmon being a water enemy also works really well, since dukemon is more melee and light based

For Penguinmon, FrosVelgrmon or even Hexeblaumon are really strong contenders for a warp digivolution in my opinion as both fit with Penguinmon's ice powers and FrosVelgrmon specifically having the bird elements on top of it while Blucomom being associated with Penguinmon in other media.

Kazu definitely has the vibes of a boy what would LOVE trains and Grandlocomon would really work for him. And the fact that a digimon like Grandlocomon might have 'terrain' and space issues fits his normal 'in the background' casting lol But picture Kazu with his high energy riding on Grandlocomon pumping him up, and Grandlocomon resignedly enabling him but keeping him safe.

I always thought how ChaosGallantmon being an alt-form of Megidramon, what if there was a draconic form of regular Gallantmon, sort of like an OrderMegidramon.

I find it funny how he picked GrandLocomon for Guardromon's Warp Digivolution when there's a Tamers movie about them fighting a GrandLocomon that's being controlled by a Parasimon and running around the subway tracks of Japan. They could have had a Spirit Tracks like fight where Kazu's GrandLocomon ran up next to the possessed GrandLocomon and then the kids like jump from one train to the other to fight Parasimon.

Mitamamon would work as a Renamon’s warp mega maybe? It’s Quadrupedal like Kyubimon, as well as those ghostly flames on the wheels in relation to Kyubimon’s fiery paws/tails. It would also allow Jeri to keep having the only Leomon in the series (assuming he’s around 😅).

Suijinmon definitely works as a ‘Purified’ Guilmon Mega, especially since Megidramon, as one of the Four Great Dragons, is based on one of the Four Seas Dragon Kings.

Karn you continue to bring back the joy I had watching digimon as a kid and I thank you for that times can be rough and reliving my childhood really helps

Like with Guilmon or even impmon if an "evil" digimon were treated well by humans it stands to reasons that that would impact evolution the same way mistreating a digimon would

5:48 Cyberdramon is a member of four fields (Metal Empire, Nature Spirits, Virus Busters and Wind Guardians (though the only reason he's in Wind Guardians is he can fly and the only reason he's in Nature Spirits is because he's in Wind Guardians)) and Deep Savers isn't one of them yet Suijinmon is one of the possible non-generic mega stage evolutions for Cyberdramon in the DMCG (the card game seen in Tamers).

1:52 Many video games instead have Wizardmon who is still humanoid as the champion stage and _Death_ -Metal- Meramon as the ultimate like the D-Power. It definitely checks out that Death Meramon is the ultimate stage though.

8:17 the symbol on Renamon's legs and Raijinmon's legs and chest are magatama, specifically hidari futatsudomoe (left facing 2 tomoe) on Raijinmon and migi futatsudomoe (right facing 2 tomoe) on Renamon. (On Raijinmon's guns, it just says "Raijin"/"Thunder God" in Japanese.)

Lopmon being a bunny and Terriermon being a dog is the definition of old school gaming where just a color palette swap changed the character. Scorpion and Subzero being my favorite example

I think Mercurymon would work really well for Jerry's leomon, he wears a dead animal skin that I always thought looks like a lion, and well that could be him rising from the ashes after he dies coming back when beelzamon gains his humanity back giving that human part of him. AWESOME! Ya know, I think Gankoomon could be a nice warp evolution for Impmon as well. It could represent the maturity of the siblings to not fight each other, but to fight others to protect each other. Also, Hinukamuy would be a nice parallel to Beelzemon's Behemoth. It's also fire based, somewhat, like Meramon and it digivolves from a DeathMeramon.

Magnificent video! Tamers is by far my favorite season, tied with 02, so any video featuring them is awesome! Your explanations make the video so much better, and I love how you keep bringing up the Shinto trio in relation to the main protagonist trio, as they all fit very well! I also didn’t know about the Guilmon card/Deep Savers link; how cool! Also: why are people saying Rika doesn’t equal Matt still? I saw the connection like 5 episodes in to Tamera. Sure, they are both very different but they have many similarities, among them familial issues and trouble really trusting those around them. Again, magnificent work!

An idea I've had for Tamers is Jeri's kid having a Digimon partner starting from Liollmon > Liamon > LoaderLeomon > HeavyLeomon, because that feels like a plausible line to me -especially if Henry's involved in some manner- Edit: Fixed strikethrough

Mitamamon would be fantastic for Renamon. HiAndromon or, why not, Craniummon for Kazu's Guardromon. Fros Velgrmon or Xiangpengmon, from New Century game, could be perfect for Penmon.

Honestly, Marine Angemon is just the perfect Mega form. Especially for Penmon. If it were going to have a different non-biomerge Mega, it should just be a Mega Version of Sirenmon. (Who’s the perfect Ultimate for this line btw). Digimon do just have two different levels sometimes.

8:20 Tomoe have a black line in the middle so I don't think it's a futatsudomoe like what you seem to be thinking of as they have a space in the middle instead.

Hey Karn. Possible video topics I think you might find interesting. What if the Adventure 01 megas had slide evolutions; Going" human" to "beast" forms and vice versa, like Seraphimon to Goldramon or Magnadramon to Orphanimon. Along the same tone, what if Susanoomon is the human spirit, then what would the beast spirit form be???

Good he finally mentioned lovely angemon being a good suzie biomerge, now I can walk back into that cornfield where I belong. And because im cursed with it in my mind, imagine suzie saying "wuvwie" instead of lovely during the biomerge.

Awesome and well thought out choices as always.

I’ve seen another comment for Fros Velgrmon as a Penmon warp digivolution. Which is funny because both Fros Velgrmon and Ancient Megatheriumon were Mega’s for the Blizzard Fang dim card. But Fros Velgrmon keeps the theme of flightless bird with Icy attributes/powers.

Great video! I like a lot of these ideas though I'm definitely partial to Plutomon for Alice's Dobermon, whether it's biomerge or warp. It's associated with death in a similar way to Anubis and fits with Doberman and Alice's aesthetic better imo. Your mention of Millenniummons importance in Monodramon's story and the idea of Dorugoramon as his warp mega made me think that DexDorugoramon would work pretty well as either a regular warp mega or a dark one. The color scheme for him is pretty similar to both Monodramon and Cyberdramon, and it has the belts wrapped around it somewhat like Strikedramon. It could be either Monodramon harnessing its leftover Millenniummon data for good (the "cage" on its tail even contains smoke that resembles Moon=Millenniummon in color)... OR you could take the DeathXDigivolution angle - maybe Ryo, not wanting a dying Monodramon to be gone forever, calls upon the dark forces left in his partner - whether unintentionally or through his grief and anger - and makes the dying/dead Monodramon into a DexDorugoramon. ...anyways, I'll refrain from writing more fanfic on your comments. Hope you have a great rest of 2023 Karn!

These were some Good choices as for my opinion I think Guilmon’s warp Digitalution is Examon as it would tie in with Gallentmon with the Royal knights and Veemon has two Royal knights in it Digitalution aswell Terrerormon Fuginmon Renamon Raijinmon it’s a shame their isn’t a Mega Four legged Fox Digimon that Renamon could digivolve into Ryo Dardramon Jeri Loaderleomon or Bancholeomon Kazu megulaKuwagamon Kenta Venusmon as she has a connection to Doves Suzie Cherubimon Aie and Mako Beelzemon Alice Ancient Sphinxmon The Girl from the tamers movie Bioumon.

I will be honest with Guilemon's evolution. I do think Gallantmon is a fitting evolution for him in the context of the show as it is both him and Takato's bond taken to its true next level, but I must admit that the red Chinese Digimon (whose name I forget) would be a good alternative digivolution for him what with WarGrowlmon having the chest cannons and all. P.S. Day ??? Of waiting for Top 10 Digivices REDUX or a general Digivice origin discussion.

Really nice video, cool ideas all around. I was thinking for Jeri's Leomon, maybe a warp evo could be Marsmon. It's a bipedal beastman (like Leomon), it's apparently a panther-man (feline, like a lion), fight with its hands (like Leomon, even though he has a sword) and in World 3, it evolves from GrapLeomon. Also, for Penguinmon, AncientMegatheriummon could totally work with the passage of water becoming ice. Let's not forget that Gomamon, a water attribute, turns into Vikemon, an ice attribute, so it wouldn't be that much of a stretch, especially if Daipenmon is used as an Ultimate. Or, if we want to stay in the water attribute or Deep Savers group, there are many possibilities (Agumon Bond of Courage and Greymon are Deep Savers, but none of the Gabumon is. That upsets me), we could go for Aegisdramon, an even more powerful Mega, or Cthyllamon, before Penguinmon controls its power and turn into MarineAngemon. Or even Leviamon, that would need to be restrained like Cyberdramon. It would be interesting with Beelzemon.

You are correct in saying the symbols of Renamon are not the commonly named 'yin Yang' symbol. That is better represented on Taomon, even if not fully correct with some small errors.

Nice video personally 1 thing i would change is giving monodramon the mega brigadramon its a mega level dramon digimon thats apart of the d brigade like darkdramon and visually is a variant of wargreymon which would tie rio back into the adventure continuity

I really like the choice of Baihumon even though it's kind of stepping on the toes of the devas. I personally prefer Plutomon as Alice's normal mega. Although either way, a cool warp evolution for her could be Grand Dracumon. Kazu's odd child form actually gives us some neat opportunites since we can lean into the beetle aspect. I would suggest either Grandis Kuwagamon or TyrantKabuterimon since they still look slightly mechanical.

The name for the symbols you're looking for is magatama, they're very ancient symbols in Japan, and have a lot of ties to traditional Japanese mythology.

renamon's symbols are tomoe, like the sharingan. Renamon has a futatsudomoe(2 fold tomoe) while the sharingan is a mitsudomoe(3 fold tomoe)

Pretty nice video, and I hope there is a custom digimon art video for hypothetic non-Biomerge megas. I do have my own idea for that. - What if Biomerge/Matrix Digivolution was just the start of something greater. In a hypothetic point after Tamers' finale, the bond between tamer and Digimon got to a point that new way of Evolution was achieved that even though it doesn't longer require the physical merging of Digimon with tamer, they still become one by synching through mind and soul, the tamer pretty seeing and feeling what the digimon does. This is the strongest light of Digivolution, Hyper Matrix Evolution or SynchLink Digivolution. Here are the new Megas: - Miraidramon: (Mirai, Japanese for future) It's a red dragon digimon covered in armor made out of red and white chrome digizoid, and has two large wings with the digital hazard emanating from them. The digital hazard symbol is on the chest symbol. This digimon has two blasters mounted on his shoulder that fires powerful energy beams. This digimon is now in full control of the digital harzard, using it only to vanquish evil and open the door for the future. - KunoichiKitsunemon: Based on the humanoid fox-like yokai, this digimon has also mastered the art of ninjitsu, using her abilities to her advantage. Her face is fully covered in a fox mask resembling Renamon. - WarGargomon: It is a quadrupedal dog-like digimon covered in green armor and equipped with powerful weaponry, including cannons, blades, etc., making him quite a beast of a living weapon. - ShogunDarkdramon: This final evolution of Cyberdramon, is the result of the latter and Ryo making peace with their turbulent past, and making the vow to move forward. This variant of Darkdramon not only shares its same abilities, but also he's equip with 2 sharp swords able to send waves of Darkness towards the enemy and cut the hardest of meterials.

I would love to see all of the megas get battle mode and Paladin mode and maybe even Sovereign mode

Cool list, I think all of these work quite well. In terms of the shinto trio, I like the idea of them being seperate entities from the tamers trio but them being connected by being their guardian angels/mentors or even inspiring their digital makeup trough their data. I feel like the shinto trio, despite having many of the same traits, are distinct in their formal design enough to make a strong seperation in my mind. I also really like the idea of warp digivolution leading to the "rough" or exaggerated natural evolved form, Guilmon to Megidramon being a prime example. Thinking of how Megidramon can be an asset against the worst of foes but also a liability if he gets out of control makes for an interesting "texture" difference between biomerge and warp digivolution for Guilmon especially, but also others. In terms of MarineAngemon and Penguinmon, I like the idea of the warp digivolution going into the more "animalistic"/natural aspect of the penguin instead of hammering in on the marine aspect, but I couldn't find anything except maybe Tempomon that visually fits which is sadly an ultimate, I feel like Ancient Mermaimon is good pick overall though.

For Jeri specifically I like Duftmon/Leopardmon as a Bio Merge Mega. It has nice parallels to Takatos Dukemon and is, according to Wikimon, based on the female lead from the book The Rose of Versailles. SaberLeomon as a bestial, primal analog to Megidramon or HeavyLeomon as a mechanical counterpart to Suijinmon work realy well.

I’d keep Megidramon for Guilmon’s warp because there is a good one that is a member of the Four Great Dragons.

I find it weird but cool that the new set in Digimon card game gave Gammamon a third ultimate level of the form Zanmetsumon. Cool because 3rd different ultimate form but weird because it doesn't represent anything space related that I'm aware of compared to the other evolutions of Gammamon.

I dug a little and found that the symbols on Renamon's thighs are called 'futatsutomoe' which practically means 'two commas'. Couldn't really find what it's specific symbolisms are, as the religious and other connections are more tied to the 'mitsutomoe' aka 'three commas'. Also, the yin yang symbol has a proper name, which is 'taijitu'. Personally thought the symbol's proper name was 'tao', but seems that I was mistaken.

I get to learn so much stuff with these videos Like, I didn't even knew there was such a thing as a "Super-Ultimate" Makes sense, tho haha Great video as always!

So I really like the duelogy in Digimon evolution with a beast and more humanoid warrior option for each level: I have vague memories of it being mentioned in Frontiers (I gave up on that series) but is very apparent in things like the amour evolutions in 02 and Guilmon/Patamon/ Gatomon's angel/Knight v dragon options. Would be really cool to explore that in a video (for example, Birdramon is the beast champion, what would be the humanoid? And vice versa for Garudamon) to create two full lines for the adventure and tamer crew.

Penmon to FrosVelgmon would make a good warp evolution if no one else mentioned it yet. Both being icy blue birds.

I think Mitamamon would be a better Mega for Renamon than any of the cats. Also, the not-yin-yang-symbol is called the futatsudomoe (二つ巴).

Renamon could have absorbed the last bit of Leomon's data as he died which would unlock Saberleomon.

Hmm, as far as the Raijinmon-Suijinmon-Fuujinmon trio as Warp Evolutions for the Tamer trio's partners-maybe they're what happens when Ryo Warp Digivolves them? Taking the games as canon he's able to digivolve 'borrowed' partners, and it would make thematic sense for an alternate form triggered by the human half of Justimon to have one of Justimon's weapons. Bring out a 'modern' Ryo game or novel or special or whatever and it could even be a plot point-he CAN'T just copy Takato, Rika, or Henry's power onto them because he's not them, he has to use his OWN power and that adds up to different forms. That could be an interesting 'gimmick' for a new season, actually-partners aren't locked to each other specifically. How much of a bond there is between a particular pair (and what the Digimon's "resting" level is, probably) effect how far they can go, but what 'direction' is dependent on some factor possessed by the human-the difference between ExVeemon and Veedramon, or Wargreymon and Shinegreymon. Then you could even get some Digimon trying to take by force a partner who they believe will Digivolve them to their 'preferred' form.

Not an expert on the subject, but as far as I'm aware, the symbols on Renamon and Raijinmon are called "tomoe", usually associated with the god Raijin and his drums, although those usually consist of 3 of those tomoe. Wikipedia also backs this up with a quite expansive article going over etymology and origin of the design, so it seems very reliable. According to wikipedia as well though, while the tomoe with 3 "commas" is usually associated with drums and such, the ones with 2 usually are tied to divination? So... very fitting for Renamon... less so for Raijinmon, which speaks to the idea that they're trying to imply a connection there. Also, I feel like I end up mentioning it in every Tamers-related video at this point, but considering Tamers' theme of the evolutions of the partners going into a more humanoid direction, it's funny how for the most part your suggestions ended up going more quadrupedal and wild-looking. With Jeris Leomon, I feel there's no real way around BanchoLeomon for a Warp-Mega. Especially with her seeing Leomon as her "prince", I feel it's just very fitting that its Mega takes on the traits of another character-archetype more or less common in shoujo-manga, the delinquent with a heart of gold. I'd honestly just exclude MarineAngemon for the obvious reason that it's already Mega, I'm mainly assuming that they'd stay at their base-level from the show, and I feel you could also argue that it probably already Warp-digivolved to arrive at its current level using Calumons light of evolution, so even were it to degenerate, a Warp Digivolution would just end back at MarineAngemon. Otherwise, I'm pretty fine with most of these ideas. Maybe not so much Monodramon, because I feel a Mega where it just grows beyond Milleniumons dark influence like it does through Justimon just feel more fitting, but I can deal with Darkdramon.

In my mind, warp digivolution is specifically an evolutionary bypass. Meaning it's an evolution of the rookie not an evolution of the Ultimate.

For renamon i well chose rasielmon or mitamamon instead of raijinmon

Karn you could've used BanchoLeomon for Leomon it fits the criteria

DinoTigremon could be a good warp evolutionary line for Jeri’s Leomon

I love either Megidramon and AncientGreymon

I think if we get a Tamers Reboot in which a dying Leomon infuses his data into Renamon, then her mega evolving into Saberleomom would make sense.

Ryo’s Monodramon would just become one of the Milleniummon forms imo.

My pick for Penguinmon will always be FrosVelgrmon.

I believe the symbol is a tomoe, it can appear in a lot of variants tho. Somebody above said mitama which is, to my understanding, the coma-like symbol that appears in a tomoe which can have several different arrangements and numbers of mitama comprising it. (So Renamon has a tomoe comprising of two mitama)

Regarding Tamers, I've been wondering what alternate/backup Devas could look like. There are cultural variants for the animals in the Chinese Zodiac; for example, Vietnam has the Year of the Cat instead of the Year of the Rabbit, and Thailand has the Year of the Naga instead of the Year of the Dragon. So, what could Devas based on these cultural variants be like?

@@Karn_EX I think you could have some real fun working with this concept, although I'm sorry about forcing you to look into what all the variants of the animals of the Chinese Zodiac are; at least you have two to work off of in the meantime.

I think for Penguinmon its warp evo could be that one ice bird from Digimon Century. Can't remember the name for the life of me tho.
