What I wear to High School for a week | Dress Codes in American School

In Sweden we have absolutely no dress codes (except you can't go to school naked lol) so I'm really not used to it. Thought I would show you what I usually wear for high school here in Arizona, but I got dress coded when filming this video oops. Would you have guessed this outfit would have gotten dress coded?

When you get dress coded it makes you feel gross because it makes you think you did something wrong, dress code really bring down girls because the boys “get distracted” when you wear shorted shorts or a crop top. I’ve been dress coded three times for stupid reasons🙄

That teacher treated you poorly. She knows you’re from a different country with different culture and instead of making some sort of warning to help you understand about dress code (your outfit was ok imo) she decided to tell you to shut up and go to the front office 😭 that was so mean she humiliated you

The dress code at my high school was so much more strict than this: shoulder straps had to be at least 3 inches thick, no midriff showing, shorts/skirts had to reach your knees or below, no jeans with rips above the knee, no leggings and no flip flops (there might be more I can’t remember)

She shouldn’t be allowed to wear tight shirts because it distracts me.. I mean.. their muscles 🤤🤤 Their masculinity when they wear a tight fitting shirt omg 🤤🤤🤤 I can’t control myself in class. See how stupid that sounds? Girls sexual hormones get turned up too we just know how to control ourselves 🙄 and I think you’re really saying guys can’t control themselves, and they’re all animals. We all know that isn’t true, a lot of guys have self control.

I got dress coded and my teacher called my grandma to come pick me up so I could change. She rolled me outside in my wheelchair in the snow and left me there to wait. This is how it is where we live, guys do not get dress coded unless they’re wearing shirts that say offensive things or their pants are sagging to their knees. Whereas I’ve seen my friend get dress coded for her wearing a shirt that had cutouts in the shoulder and other stupid reasons like that

Something really weird about dress codes is that the teachers/ administrators always dress code one person but not another. This happened to me when I went to a private school and our skirts were supposed to go down to our knees but a lot of the girls would wear them super super short but then when I would roll my skirt to make it a little above my knee I would get dress coded before the other girls.

I feel bad because the poor girl all of a sudden lost her ability to bend at the waist around that time in the video. Shortly after your link she did a jump cut to stand up and while she was standing another jump cut and when she finally got back up again so you could see her outfit at 9:19 she did another jump cut and while standing there are a whole bunch more. She cut out so much of the video while "showing" us the outfit that it is obvious that the clothes do not hang that way on her body normally. I very much doubt that what people are seeing is a fair representation of that outfit. She can't even stand up in it without having to cut that part of the video out or even remain standing without multiple cuts.

So, i'm in my last year of middle school but (i live in the netherlands by the way) we dont really got dresscodes here in general. But we do have rules on my school and one of those rules is that you can't wear ordinary stuff etc. like you can't wear clothes that show so much skin. But when its summer everyone wears short clothes and tight or short dresses. And i dont know anyone who ever got dresscoded so i'm happy that it isn't that strict here. Otherwise when its winter or just cold the rule of being dressed well isn't that important. (We also can wear ripped jeans and i would be mad if we couldnt)

Well actually, that’s good because here in the Philippines, you have to wear school uniforms..you have you school uniform for Monday,Tuesday and Thursday.for Wednesday,we wear our GSP uniforms which means “Girl Scouts of the Philippines” and on Fridays,we can be relaxed because we’re gonna wear our P.E uniform which is jogging pants and a shirt..The normal School Uniforms(Monday,Tuesday and Thursday) are just a blouse and “skirts” but long ones..so I think yours are better

From 2nd grade to graduation I attended schools that have a uniform and no “dress code” guidelines to wear whatever you want like a graphic T-shirt and jeans. Shorts were not allowed, and my friends who attended other schools were allowed to wear shorts. But even then regardless if you are standing up or sitting down they mustn’t be above 5 inches from your knee. There’s also a “fingertip” rule for some schools. But what I saw “wrong” with the outfit was the how short your shorts were.

i’m always super scared of getting dress coded because at our school they make us change into the school owned clothes, so i always use the finger tip rule with shorts. which is whatever shorts i wear have to go down to my fingertips (which actually works in my favor because of my shape my shorts are actually quite short) so yeah 🤪

I got dress coded once for wearing a dress that had a water drop effect in the back, that’s not the proper term but idk what is lol. it had a little button in the back basically, and I guess it showed the one part of the strap on my bra so I got dress coded lol. she would’ve gotten dress coded every day at my school with those outfits. no holes in jeans, shorts have to be a post it note or less above the knee, no leggings, no open backed shoes(meaning no flip flops or Birkenstock, idk if that’s the right spelling lol), straps must be at least 3 fingers wide, but we still can’t show our shoulders, no stomach showing, you’re not allowed to dye your hair, and if you have colored eyeshadow or lipstick that’s not a nude color you must remove it. we have to wear jeans, no sweatpants or other athleticwear. That’s just part of it lol.

The same thing used to happen at my school. The dress code was strict, very biased towards girls, and there were people who got dress coded over things that other people wore that didn’t get dress coded. It really did depend on the teacher. But people complained until they changed it, and we can pretty much wear anything now. 😌

The school district I went to in California was very strict with the dress code. But since I lacked a sense of style, it wasn’t really a problem for me haha Some of the rules were no ripped/frayed jeans, shorts couldn’t be more than 6 inches above the knee, no cropped tops, no camouflage print, sandals needed to have a back strap, and shoulder straps had to be 2 inches or more. Boys could not have beards, and their hair could not be longer than their ears. Also, you could not have hair color that is not a natural color, like pink, blue, green, etc. and, if I remember correctly, t shirts with sports teams were also banned, unless on designated spirit days.

At my school we have a uniform I guess. We have to wear like a school spirit shirt or certain colors of polo shirts with jeans or khakis but we're not allowed to show our ankles because "the boys will get distracted" the same goes to having your hair dyed other than a natural color. They say it's "too distracting for a learning environment." It's so annoying.

Hearing about other people’s dress code really makes me think that our dress code is so strict, our shorts and dresses have to be 2-3 inches above your knee, when wearing leggings your shirt must be fingertip length (WHICH IS HARD WHEN YOU HAVE LONG ARMS, but I get away with it except with one teacher), no ripped jeans, shirts can’t show your stomach when you raise your arms, no spaghetti straps, etc.
