It may be a skill and hard work, but for her work to look so clean and well done after only a few weeks, there’s definitely some talent and natural skill involved as well! Both can exist at the same time and still be impressive!

@@ashtaylor4107 crochet is not a difficult skill to pick up. It’s one of those skills that’s very easy to understand on a surface level. The hard part is having the patience to finish what you started and judging how much material you need. 😂

I have a book of stitches that's no longer produced, but it's got so many wonderful stitches in it Uyen could use! It is "The Complete Encyclopedia of Stitchery" by Mildred Graves Ryan. It has sewing, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, macrame, needlepoint, rug making, tatting, crewel and bargello! Secondhand book sellers online have it, it's amazing and how I've learned to knit and I'll be using it to learn how to properly sew and crochet too!

I learned to crochet in the 1960s when I was 16 years old. Learned from a British elderly lady who was lonely and put ad in paper to teach crochet. I paid 25 cents ( Canadian) per session. she served me high tea with tea and english snacks. The 60s was the time of crocheted chokers vests and beanies. i am now 70 years old and have crocheted all my adult life. I have made many different things and given away many but the thing that I love about crocheting is mental health and great de-stressed. it has saved me from losing myself to stress fear and the ugliness of life and hurtful people. I am forever grateful to that lovely English lady.

You can cheat a bit with the magic ring! Start by doing two chain stitches, and then just single or double crochet into the first chain however many times the instructions say to do it in the magic ring! It doesn’t let you tighten it like the magic ring, but if you want it smaller, you can easily sew it together more
