I considered a Minor in Music, but they required you to be in the marching band and in my major you could not be in extracurricular activities that required after class time or travel days off-campus. Plus the Music Department was geared around marching band-only and I was interested in music theory. Plus I didn't play piano in those days, I was a clarinetist. Now that I have the time I've been self-learning piano and studying theory on-line.

Fortunately, my school had no football team, so no marching band!

I found music schools to be a huge pool of unprofessional behavior and various types of abuse. Yet students pay to go... and then there is the academic side which misses most of the muses: no study of lyrics, poetry, prose, etc., because rewards are only given for performing on instruments. They have also purposely locked out the expertise from any other major so it is impossible to have a 'real' major and simultaneously take advanced music classes, thus making the music depts into echo chambers.
