got introduced to this game in 2008 through my siblings :) i saw my sisters lvl 25 archer and she let me play on her acc and just like you i play on and off! maplestory has such a special place in my heart and i know that no matter how many times i leave it it will always be there for me to come back to!

Thanks for producing a very well structured video and sharing your thoughts coherently and honestly on the current state of the game. I think for all of these reasons, I will probably have more enjoyment from watching others play the game rather than sink back into it.

Oh, man Maplestory is very nostalgic ^_^ I remember really loving the wind archers magnum shot and hurricane skill, strikers shark wave, and showing it off to everyone. Becoming a gun slinger so I can summon a pirate boat to shoot cannons :D Those were the good days. Simple things made me so excited ^_^ Going to kerning city and dancing to its funky beat :D

For those on the fence about maple story , bear in mind that grinding is a large , large part of the game. Yeah the grind is not as bad as before and you really don’t feel the grind until post level 200 , but at the end of day you stil have to grind, you stil have to kill thousands of mobs to slowly level up. So before you invest into maple story you have to ask yourself-are you okay with the grind?

Oh i've grinded. I think it was somewhere around 2006/7 when I started playing this game. For a while my daily diet consisted mainly of snails, shrooms and slimes. Good old days..

Super new player here. Wonderful and relaxing video. Thank you. I've been playing for about a month now, I have around 2.6k Legion and my highest Classes are Jett (210) [890k Range], BaM (202) and Dual Blade (200) but I have tons of character from 70-170 range. The game is definitely overwhelming, especially to a semi-hoarder like me. I've been trying to get better at actually using flames and cubes and resources instead of "keeping for a piece of gear that'll be actually worth it" because the expiration date on a lot of these items really pushes you to use them almost as soon as you have them. Even the gear you get at level 200 from Teraburning is stressing me out, 'cause once it goes away I'm not sure what'll happen. One day I'll login and half my range will be gone :( I do gotta say I enjoy the Legion as I'm one of those players that will eventually level every single class just to experience them, but I do have to say that having to pay for some things such as cosmetics and pets for each individual character is a bit discouraging for me. Of course I don't NEED cosmetics, but in Reboot, which is what I play, you just can't realistically NOT have a pet. So now every time I find a class that I enjoy on top of my "main" (Dawn Warrior, Xenon, Illium [..]) I feel bad instead of excited, 'cause that means I have more things to "upkeep"/maintain, monetarily. For the most part I login on the Jett, do my VJ (Lvl 8 Symbol rn) dailies, do all the bosses I've unlocked so far (Normal Zakum, Easy Mag, Normal Horntail, the 4 RA ones, Pink Bean and Hilla), do my 2 legion dailies and Starlight event coin cap and then grind out 1-2 levels before logging into another character to level that one up a bit. I'm a very cautious player so I'd love some 1-on-1 guidance as I often seek "confirmation" to make sure what I'm doing is, even if not OPTIMAL, reasonable. Sorry for the WoT, just giving the new player experience :)

Sounds like you're doing well~ thanks for sharing your experience c: and best of luck with progression! Quick aside about pets: if you can do hhilla she drops a box that can give a pet so that's a quick way to get a very basic one. As for efficiency, I'd def recommend joining a newbie friendly guild as there are so many small nuances that can be quite lengthy to cover and is dependent on the case. I wouldnt get too stuck on efficiency either as that can often lead to burn out. Doing what you enjoy doing / what you're in the mood for will help you in the long run

Playing maplestory is a marathon, not a race. Don't try to do everything at once or try to optimize everything, pick and choose, and play at the pace you are comfortable with. THings like tera-burning and starlight chariot always come back, don't let Nexon fomo you to complete them if you are feeling burn out.

I don't usually sub to channels with 1 maplestory video but you do have content on other games I play and some I cannot afford rn (cough cough kirby) lol so subbed

@@simaoperes155 I'm a regular player - compare it to the game it was 3 years ago, yeah, it's definitely in a better state. No hackers/botters, better server uptime, 2 pc meta is (mostly?) gone. It's far from perfect, but it's much better off.

Im a battle mage main, started playing before there was such a thing as "Windia". The experince of BaM skill changes throughout the patches carry me better than the hardshipp of my life xD

Nice video:) I came back to maple for destiny and been grinding to get my main to be able to solo cra bosses. All the destiny benefits have pretty much tripled my damage but my mechanics are still shit haha

Maybe it’s because I play on Aurora, not Bera or Reboot, but the game still feels like a solo experience 100% of the time when I play the game. Even if I’m playing with a friend, we usually just hang out while doing things separately since the game mechanics actively punish you for teaming up while grinding or doing daily bosses. This might be a symptom of the early to mid game where bosses are still soloable but it feels like it’s hours upon hours of gameplay to get to the actually engaging content (my main is 222 atm, and I’ve dropped the game and picked it up again on and off for years). I enjoy the game but not enough to devote my everything to it anymore, especially when I spend my time playing Guild Wars 2 as well which is extremely community oriented (and feels more accessible as far as the end game goes but maybe that’s just me). That said, the nostalgia, the art style and the truly fun experience of the combat system keeps me coming back to maplestory though. Not many other games really get that same satisfying feeling of blowing up tons of mobs with one button and a bunch of flashy skill effects, paired with really fun movement options that have thankfully been spread to every class over the years (not just thieves and mages). I still love maplestory but it’s hard to recommend it to someone new jumping in unless they’re ready to devote a ton of time and effort into the game before they see any significant progress towards reaching the new “end game.” Like you said, it’s very progression based so if you enjoy an eternal grind to always improve your stats, it might be for you, but don’t pick it up if you want to play a game where you can hit an end point for BiS gear and focus on content-based progression, since the gear treadmill never truly stops in maplestory. Great video, too, I think it did a good job showcasing the endgame of what maplestory can be, although the climb to get there is very long and can’t really be understated.

I dont mind grindy. I just missed the time where people actually have a bond together, a community. The party questing. Where people have different roles to fulfill, and work together to achieve something. While some stuff are really stupid and time-consuming in the pq But that actually gives people the window of time to just do dumb chit-chat. I missed the time my party just came up with a different version of PQ story because everyone just waiting for that one person to come back with PQ item. Like Papa Pixie is actually a good person that is trying to help the Goddess, That's why all his minions, all the monster in the PQ have statue shards and pieces we, the player, needed to repair the status and bring back the Goddess or Kenta PQ is just Kenta being really rude to us, we are some strangers trying to help him and he call us Monster (FYI, the dialogue line Kenta said when we need protect him for 3 minute is "Monsters! Help me! I need 3 minute xxxx..") And Kenta in the end is just hiring us to collect food ingredient for him to make bentos because why else entire Pianus turns into skeleton when it died

Hi Kevin! I really feel like we were in a guild for a couple of months together (Campfire) like a bit over or around a year ago when you played your Yarpe (Kanna). I could be completely wrong but the name just looked so familiar! I was an ice lightning (I went by Nanssu) and I remember you helped me out with the class when I had questions. I left for a year during the Goo event and also recently came back for the destiny patch and plan on continuing for the foreseeable future! Maple is just a chill game to play after work compare to other PVP games which can be stressful haha. Btw if its the wrong person, apologies for the irrelevant write up! Also if you dont remember me that fine either! We interacted not that many times but I distinctively remember the ign Yarpe cause it pretty neat when you read it out:p Glad to see you are doing well! EDIT: 99% sure it's you! I remember xTaso in Campfire as well!!

I'm in a situation where I have 2 mains now (I/L and F/P) equally funding them both and doing dailies for both. But I don't think I will have time to commit to 2 characters full times for guild activities so I don't feel it's right for me to put my other main in another guild when I can't commit full time. (I do guild activities like Gcap, flag, culvert for my FP already) I'm definitely considering joining up with you guys if I need a change of scene from my current guild/ want to explore other guilds though! ESO is the most openly social MMO i've played, on PC, idk about console but ppl are real talkative and zone chats can turn into barren's chat real fast

GOD THIS GAME IS SO CUTE! I just find the controls really difficult to adjust to, and gave up. My dream is they give us alternative movement controls, moving with arrow keys confuses my brain hehe

Given that I play black desert online (monster grind central) It couldn't hurt to get back into maple haha. I actually like grinding, it may sound strange but it is quite relaxing.

After quitting MS when zak was introduced, I came back to it a week ago. I thought it would be the same. I was shocked. Almost overwhelmed by the amount of …. Stuff… that’s on my screen. Doing thief class and glad I started on reboot server. I was hoping the market place and people spamming sales would still be around. I know reboot doesn’t do it.

They really need to restore this game in a modern way. The graphics and social aspect were what really reeled me in compared to other games. There was unlimited possibilities with styling your character, and the 2d style made it easy to show off your aesthetic. Nothing has ever replicated this for me, not even the failed sequel.

I really hope they add ceilings to star forcing...

I hit lvl 200 with my Adele, but now I'm kinda lost, not knowing what I should do next. I do my dailies but my damage is kinda bad, so it takes more than an hour to finish my dailies. I do the weakest bosses since I can't even kill normal papulatus xD don't know if that's normal or not. My damage range is slightly above 330k iirc

Yeah early game can be rough but i would recommend trying ur best to level. Assuming you're adele is a tera burn char getting 205,210,215,220 will help u get nodes and a few gear pieces that will help ur dmg alot. also do ursus and maple tour with some daily bosses and u can get 1bil a week out of ur char without needing meso gear in the early stages.

This... Did not make me wanna play the game. But I get it

you got greedy you had 19 but you wanted 20 and instead went back to the starting point lol. personally i left all mines at 17 and got them to 17 due to event where you get a free 100% at 15 or 16. after that point i just gave up trying to starforce above that.

The starforcing system is literally the very worst system I've ever tried in an mmo. I too came back for Destiny, and starforcing gear to transfer to my cra gear caused me to quit for 3 weeks.

The star system seems abysmal and is the sole thing putting me off playing, how important is it to have high star gear to participate in end game content?

Bad news is star force sucks and is pretty core to getting to end game content. Good news is that generally the bare minimum you can get away with is relatively reasonable compared to when things really start getting insane in terms of probability. The game has also been pretty good about making streams of income more consistent, so usually you get a lot of resources to get your gear to a reasonable place by the time youre a high enough level to participate. My advice is that you should spend some time to see if the gameplay and general vibe is smth you like and decide if it's worth investing time into heavy progression from there!
