Great review agreed with all you comments, I have the icon Dark and love it, I changed the bars for lower variable section Ones, and the led uprated indicators and fitted a nitron r1 rear Shock which transforms the ride, you can certainly push it more than my 2019 street twin it’s definitely long term keeper.

Beautiful bike! I own a 2020 Full Throttle (yellow and black) and I can tell you, this is practically tha same bike. I can notice some slight differences: lower handlebar, bar-end mirrors, smaller turn indicators, seat (without tail cover), spoked wheels and of course, that awesome gray color. The rest is the same, even the side plates, Termi exahust and tires.

Had a 2020 Icon but I found that it really did not handle so I put some GT tires on for a start. I mean it's ok for blipping about town or taking it easy on b-roads, which I guess is what it is made for. But with the changes you recommend at the end, and with which I fully agree, you basically have got a different bike and there are better stock ones on the market. The main reason to buy a Ducati Scrambler is for its cool image. I've ended up with an Aprilia Tuono and I never miss the Scrambler.

Great bikes. If you change the throttle tube for the tube of the 2015 model the throttle response will be much more exciting and snappy. Not everyone likes that but once you get used to it it's really nice. I own the 1100 Scrambler now but still miss the throttle response of the first 800 Scrambler making it feel much faster and powerfull then it actually is.

Country roads you leave it in 4th, on faster roads, leave it in 5th if you want your torque. Those are your two gears that make it fun. I love mine and having a taller bike and coming back to his makes me appreciate it even more. Very easy to ride. I have the Icon Dark.

I feel that what you mention about the Nighthawk to make it more road ready, is to make a road version with flat bars, aluminium 17" front wheels and better damping suspension. But to make a better Off-road bike, make it an 18-19" spoke wheels, scrambler style handlebar and details like the ones the Nighthawk has. I feel like some of the accesories of the ICON should be on the Nighthawk and viceversa.

I really like these bikes too. I'm old school though, I don't think scrambler styled bikes should be pavement bias. They were a fun dirt and hill climb bikes in the day. They could go nearly anywhere, and were the precursor to dirt bikes and adventure bikes.

The bench seat and side number plate are big improvement over the Icon, which has that awkward-looking oversized seat. The paint and styling are spot on. I agree with you that a 17 inch front wheel with road tyres would look (and perform) way better. That was the best thing about the Cafe Racer model. I'd also like to see a beefier tank (like the 1100). Overall though a great looking bike and fun to ride too.

The only deal breaker for this bike is the big service, You get your warning light....after 500km the bike will not start. Remove top covers, check valves, replace belts and plugs. To cancel the service light only and be able to use the bike, the service centre charges about 80 euro. If they do the whole service themselves be prepared for a blood curdling experience.

I really wanted to love this bike, but I just found it to be woefully under braked for a person of my size (Think rugby second tower). Everything was enjoyable, but I just couldn't finesse it the way I like to ride. It desperately needs heavier forks and another brake disc.

Yes not doing the thing that triggers the issue doesn't trigger the issue 😜 I think Bob was just (rightfully) complaining that it was easy to do, not unavoidable. Could be fixed by Ducati by requiring a long press or something to reset rather than an action people do hundreds of times a trip.

  • @aunoates6617

This thing is taking a page from HD with yesterdays technology at tomorrow's prices. MSRP in the states is $11k. The XSR 900 MSRP is $9500 and offers a better chassis, better engine, better brakes, and better suspension. The Scrambler needs to be cheaper or better because it is not competitive right now.

I think for a few dollars more I would look at the Z900rs. With the 40 extra pounds of wet weight you get 40 extra hp. 👍 You can use the Ducati on some mild off road possibly but under 6 inches of travel not to much.. I would want whichever is the cool cruiser that can be best outfitted to do long long road trips when needed.
