@@BigLadHelliti Aye, it did. For the first time in almost 30 years! And it took most of our power grid down with it. I was without power or heat for 3 days, huddled under 8 layers of blankets so I wouldn't freeze to death. And I was one of the lucky ones! I get it, it sounds absurd, losing our shit over 3 inches of snow. But when your infrastructure, your housing/apartment construction, your society and psychology is designed around "It never snows here", 3 inches of white stuff can and did bring us to our knees. Imagine if Britain were hit by a 100 degree Fahrenheit heat wave for a week straight? Y'all have thick brick construction, most houses don't have air con. You'd be suffering as much as we were, and we would send you our most sincere care and consolations.

Some ideas for you sam! - Use lipo batteries to power a model train[ preferebly steam loco] - Make a franken-locomotive using mix matched parts from a bunch of different engines,( it has to be a steam locomotive, so you can mix match external and internal parts) - Make a locomotive do a loop-de-loop on a stretch of track. - Construct a propper out door layout. - When its winter, put a snow plow on a locomotive and have it go through the snow( or use baking flower) and see how big of a "snow" drift it can go through. - Put a model rocket on a peice of rolling stock, and attempt to beat your scale speed record. - somehow, make a stretch of track that goes verticle, and somehow make the locomotive go up a wall (try using magnets, or use strings) Keep up the good work! I love the experiments, theyre quite entertaining. If you could find time to make a video out of any of these it would make my year.

Sam, you are utterly bonkers! I have never laughed so much in view of the rice pudding experiment! The Peckett O gauge and frozen loco experiments were tame by comparison. I'll have to think something up. By the way, I have sent my Eurostar power car to Hornby Hobbies as the guy I spoke to on the phone today said they would fix it free of charge, as it's still within warranty. Such a pity that a 5 pole motor could conk out after just under 3 months usage like it did. I did remove some debris and excess oil yesterday but it made no difference. Cheers, Pete.

The hardest part of running outdoor trains in freezing weather is the rails getting a thin layer of ice that doesn't give any traction or conductivity (I use live steam so that is not a problem).

Thanks for a fun video Sam. The reason you had difficulty getting the locomotive up and running is due to the ice that was built up on the wheels, so there was no proper electrical connection from the engine to the rails. When you got the ice scraped off the wheels by and pushed the locomotive onto the rails, the connection came back and it ran. It is true that the oil gets stiffer the colder it is, but that should not prevent the locomotive from running.
