Sorry, but the information is incorrect. We have no small boats on submarines unless it is special operations. The diving process is completely wrong. I'm a retired submariner on multiple classes of boats

"Retired" SOP changes often its not even the same for me and it's only been 5 years since I got out. And the military as a whole is unrecognizable from 10 years ago

You would be screwed in the Royal Navy, recruits don't have to be able to swim to be accepted from this year as recruitment numbers are lower that requirement.

People on Ocean going vessels should wear wrist watches that allows their location to be tracked via GPS with the Captain having the ability and the information to locate anyone on board or not via GPS. This should be a mandatory requirement.

The only way a person could fall over the side of a sub is when they are pulling into or out of a port. Other than than that everyone else is up in the sail wearing safety harnesses.

Guess you are an ex USN sun dodger. In the Royal Navy we rarely wore harnesses when on the conning tower (sail). In fact only time I ever wore a harness was in a force 10 in the north Atlantic where we were being thrown from surface to periscope depth with every wave. But as a newly qualified sludgemariner it was interesting. Also note that if we were doing a surface transit and the weather was good getting some rays on the casing was almost obligatory as was "Hands to Bathe" aka swimming. And if we were lucky there might even be ice creams

We had to make an emergency repair at sea, due a piece of loose equipment that was banging on the hull. A welder had to go topside to tack it in place. Also, sometimes the water is too shallow to dive, such as the Irish Sea.

Narrated videos are annoying to me to much embellishments and exaggeration. Navy vessels drill all the time to break up the monotony and to be prepared. When you hear this is a drill no big deal but when you’re called to general quarters that’s when your adrenaline kicks in

DUH!! Sure glad you came up with that gem. I'm guessing that bit of knowledge will be incorporated into the next printing of the submariners manual along with entreating that all hatches are secure and watertight before submerging. Lucky for the military there are citizens out there looking out for our safety. A medal should be designed to honor them.
